We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Client Intelligence
The Client & Banking Analytics (CBA) team within CIB transforms data with strategic analytics, driving insight, innovation, and commercial performance across HSBC. As the business owner of Omnia and CME, CBA is instrumental in driving their strategic development to simplify data analytics, enhance business intelligence, and ultimately drive client and shareholder excellence. We deliver data-driven insights to optimise investment across clients, products, channels, and resources, and to enhance pricing. Through disciplined governance, consistent methodology, and fact-based analysis (including client peer benchmarking, wallet sizing, and customer feedback), CBA fosters business optimisation, strengthens CIB partnerships, and provides critical insights for shaping CIB’s commercial strategy.
As an Associate Director within the Client Intelligence pillar, you will be advanced analytics expert in the Client & Banking Analytics (CBA) team, combining deep data science expertise with the responsible use of approved AI, to unlock scalable insights and move from question to action faster. Your primary focus will be to commercialise HSBC's internal client data, integrating external datasets to deliver cutting-edge insights. The primary objective is to identify growth opportunities, define high-potential clients, measure and optimise customer value to deliver commercially oriented insights guiding investment across clients, products and channels. This role directly empowers strategic and commercial decision-making for CIB leadership and the frontline.

In this role you will:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated analytical models (predictive, machine learning, statistical) for client profiling, wallet sizing, customer value measurement, and sales growth
- Champion the responsible use of approved AI tools, to improve speed, quality, and scalability of insight delivery
- Translate complex data insights into actionable commercial strategies and recommendations that drive CIB growth and returns
- Partner with frontline teams, product sales, and servicing to understand their analytical needs, present compelling findings, and ensure the successful adoption and integration of data-driven solutions
- Collaborate with data engineering and technology to ensure high-quality data access, manage governance, and explore new data sources
- Clearly articulate complex analytical concepts, methodologies, and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including frontline bankers
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven expertise in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics. Proficient in Python, R, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with big data (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience using AI-enabled analytics, including agentic workflows, to accelerate model development, automation, and insight generation
- Deep understanding of Corporate and Institutional Banking products, client segments, and commercial drivers.
- Demonstrable experience in commercial analytics, client segmentation, wallet sizing, client profiling, and peer benchmarking
- Demonstrate thought leadership and innovative problem-solving. Strong communication and presentation skills, with a track record of driving actionable insights and influencing the frontline.
- Possess a strategic mindset with commercial acumen and a passion for leveraging data
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex global matrix organization and foster strong, collaborative partnerships across products, regions, and functions
- Qualifications in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline
- Experience in data science or advanced analytics, preferably within financial services with a focus on commercial and or corporate banking, credit, rates, FX, payments, trade, or cash management
