HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes which include private market funds, hedge funds, real assets (direct real estate and energy transition infrastructure equity), infrastructure and private debts, venture capital, with ~300 staff across 10 offices (inc. London, New York, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong and Singapore).
We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management business for an Associate - Alternative Solutions Portfolio Manager.
The Solutions Portfolio Manager will play a critical role in managing and growing the firm’s investments within open end (Evergreen) private credit and private equity asset classes and will be responsible for executing investment strategies that generate attractive risk-adjusted returns while aligning with client objectives.
You will work with the broader investment teams to lead the portfolio construction of individual portfolios and contribute to the management of all portfolios within the Alternative Solutions capability. You will be a key contributor to the broader portfolio management function and as such will be expected to be actively involved in the design of products, portfolio management systems, risk monitoring, performance monitoring and reporting.
In this role you will:
- Actively input into Investment Strategy & Execution and develop and implement investment strategies specifically tailored to private credit and private equity portfolios
- Support the business to provide full portfolio management coverage of existing and prospective investments solutions this includes evaluating current and proposed holdings in third-party managed alternative investment funds.
- Closely collaborate with the client facing teams across AMG and GPB and provide critical information that will assist investments decision making
- Work with operational teams in trade processing, portfolio reconciliation, Middle Office, Due diligence, Reporting and Product Specialists in order to ensure data accuracy and transparency.
- Maintain comprehensive investment documentation and ensure all transactions comply with firm policies and regulatory standards.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following Essential Requirements:
- Sound knowledge and experience of Alternative asset classes is essential. Knowledge of Private Credit would be a bonus.
- Excellent financial modeling skills with experience working with valuation methodologies specific to illiquid assets is essential.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse, interpret and distil complex information into easily digestible content that can be used in reports and presentations is essential
- Able to evidence strong stakeholder skills and create credibility to be recognised as a ‘Trusted Advisor’ across an internal stakeholder audience is essential
- Extremely well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with multiple demands on your time and managing tasks is essential
