Our Wealth and Personal Banking (WBP) business supports millions of individuals, families, business owners, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. We provide products and services that include current accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as savings, investments, insurance and wealth management. We also have specialised relationship managers who support customers with bespoke requirements, including high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. 

As part of HSBC’s WPB digital strategy, markets continue to build their local digital teams and capability to build world class digital products and features as well as ensure we maximise our opportunities for customer engagement through our digital channels and staff.

From UK Digital perspective, we are looking for a Digital UX/UI designer as part of UK Platforms team, to support multi brand and cross channel (mobile first) design activities.

The candidate will participate in all stages of design delivery from ideation to engineering support and post launch iterations. As part of global HSBC design and digital community, the candidate will collaborate closely with colleague within UK digital, as well as wider local and international teams to deliver desired outcomes as one broader team. 

In this role you will:

  • Undertake and support team in creation of ‘best in class’ channel propositions and services following user centred design techniques and industry best practice, including research and customer usability testing, briefing and managing agencies where appropriate.
  • Support development concept designs and clickable prototypes to support stakeholder engagement and illustrate early design thinking. Provide SME support in all aspects of UCD across the Analysis and Design functions.
  • Interact with multiple WPB teams at local and global level in order to ensure the most rapid and efficient development of digital requirements and readiness of the business to adopt.
  • Work closely digital design leadership on digitally led and non-digitally led projects to deliver investment of across the in-scope markets.
  • Effective user centred design activity will enable targeted business benefit realization.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding of digital business, while experience with consumer-facing financial services product development is a strong advantage.
  • Strong design portfolio is kindly required for all candidates
  • Possess a blend of business and technical savvy; ability to drive strategy into action
  • An entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to deconstruct and solve problems, to investigate drivers and figure out why things happen
  • Proven ability to build strong relationship across stakeholder groups with the ability to effectively influence and communicate across various business lines and units and at senior levels within the organisation.
  • Customer focussed, result-based approach, able to deliver to deadlines, demonstrated flexibility and resilience when addressing shifting or competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial focus, ability to balance risks vs. rewards and maximize cost effectiveness and profitability for the business
  • Pragmatic decision-making skills, with the ability to make clear judgments and understand the implications.

 

   UX specific skills required

 

  • (UX) – Strong skills and experience in digital experience design and information architecture.
  • (UX) – Strong understanding of user research and user testing methods and translate the research findings into design requirements and solutions.
  • (UX) – Good experience of reviewing existing digital experience and provide expert analysis.

 

UI specific skills required

  • (UI) – Strong understanding of layout and typography, and meticulous attention to design details.
  • (UI) – Strong skills and experience in digital experience design for native mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and knowledge of responsive web is advantageous.
  • (UI) – Good working knowledge and experience with design system.

This is a hybrid working role with the base location as either Leeds or Birmingham.
