Within CIB, our Capital Markets and Advisory team integrates our financing and investment banking activities under a single structure and focuses on three strategic pillars: Financing Solutions (Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, Strategic Equity & Financing, Corporate Risk Solutions and Structured Finance), Corporate Finance, which comprises sector bankers and country teams, and Strategic Advisory focused on M&A and Equity Capital Markets.

We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Vice President, Debt Capital Markets - Capital Markets & Advisory

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

  • Participate in the origination and execution of debt capital market transactions, namely debt offerings, private placements, liability management and rating advisory, across both MYR and FCY.
  • Actively assist Head of DCM, to secure local currency MYR mandates and contribute to MYR bond syndication function including providing market updates and pricing.
  • Develop and maintain active dialogues and relationships with stakeholders, including clients, third-party providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, including pitchbooks, presentations, and other relevant documents.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings and presentations – having strategic thinking on what to show clients & key origination ideas.
  • Conduct financial analysis, peer comparison work, and market research and analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams, including coverage, legal, compliance, and operations, to ensure successful execution of transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of transaction-related documents / materials with full ownership and accountability.
  • Support senior team members in managing transaction processes and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Ensure all aspects of control, from credit to KYC to compliance (including regulatory compliance) are fully adhered to with zero breaches.
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by senior management, or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the growing the Bank’s Asian Debt Capital Markets business
  • Cross sell with other product partners such as LAF (Leveraged Financing) /HIF (Infrastructure Financing) /MSS (Markets and Securities Services) /ECM (Equity Capital Markets)/ Advisory / ISV (Investors Services) / International Wealth and Premier Banking.

Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field. A master's degree in finance or business administration may be preferred.
  • Licensed Employee of Registered Person (or equivalent) for corporate finance advisory, as required under Securities Commission and Bank Negara Malaysia licensing requirements.
  • Relevant experience in debt capital markets, investment banking, corporate banking or a related field. Experience in originating non-recourse project bond/sukuk/financing across sectors, would be an added advantage.
  • Understanding of debt capital markets, including debt instruments, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in transaction execution, including participating in the execution of debt offerings or private placements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • Visible and motivational leadership, ability to work within a team setup.
  • A proactive and results-driven mindset, with the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize amidst simultaneous tasks and projects, with tenacity to drive through results and meet tight deadlines
  • Motivated, detail oriented, reliable individual with strong analytical and technical skills
  • Extensive technical skills and experience in using and applying Microsoft Office products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.) and financial data sources (i.e. Bloomberg)
  • This role will involve client contact and requires full proficiency in English and Bahasa.
