We are currently seeking ambitious individuals to join our International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) team in the role of Manager, Legal Enforcement and Auction Management, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

 

Repsonsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire end to end of Backend Litigation for Grade 6 and post-90/NPL for portfolio across all products, i.e. Mortgage, Personal Financing-I, Credit Cards and Retail Business Banking (RBB) to hasten collections and recoveries which impact the collections KPI performance and Bank's overall expected losses. 
  • Support Line Manager in the portfolio assessments, review of collections strategies, internal process enhancements and ad-hoc requests to improve the KPI performance of the 90+lagged delinquency, write-off, recoveries and net credit losses (NCL).
  • Managing collections & recoveries of all products of HBMB & HBMS for both secured & unsecured portfolio (including RBB) through the developed strategies and policies to maximize collections and recoveries through the most efficient and effective use of internal resources and external business partners to ensure early recovery from accounts turning into vintage status for both secured and unsecured portfolios. In summary, lower write off with higher recoveries at minimal cost incurred.
  • Implementation of cost-effective delinquent portfolio management and minimization of losses directly contributing to P&L impact. 
  • Safeguarding portfolio risk by fostering a strong debt collection force underpinned by sound and ethical work practices and policies/strategies which are consistent with the groups and local regulatory requirements. These are combined with the operation of an automated collection process.
  • Improvement of lag delinquency rates for both secured and unsecured. Judiciously evaluate and decide on all proposals for new classification, additional provisioning, rescheduling, restructuring, write-offs, write-downs, and upgrading in a timely and quick manner to ensure adequacy of loan loss reserve and reduce portfolio risk.
  • Managing and execution of debt management procedures on all debt management policies, regulations, audit recommendations and key indicators are adhered to.
  • Execution of debt management procedures with Asia Pacific Risk, Regional Collections Team and ensuring that all debt management policies, regulations, audit recommendations and key indicators are adhered to.
  • Provide training imparted to all staff and development needs are assessed on periodic basis.
  • Maintain HSBC Internal Control Standards and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
  • Maintain awareness of operational risk including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with the Group Operations and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.
  • Secured Portfolio
    • Preventing the aging of the performing accounts to non-performing status
    • Hasten recovery and resolution of secured non-performing accounts through auction management to bring positive impact to LIC. 
  • Unsecured Portfolio
    • Management of day to day management of unsecured recovery related such as litigations, feedbacks and operational related tasks.
    • Management of the Unsecured Recovery Team to ensure all administrative and maintenance tasks are completed in an effective and timely manner to help optimize the collections and recoveries activities.

 

Requirements:

  • Preferably a diploma and/or degree qualification in any discipline.
  • Experience in managing litigation and enforcement.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Able to apply best practice amongst staff and maximize productivity.
  • Able to handle customer complaint independently and resolution is performed.
  • Highly disciplined and self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate well (both written and spoken) in English and Bahasa Malaysia, other local dialects will be added advantage.
  • A good team player with the right attitude to be self-initiative, hardworking and embrace to changes.
  • Must have excellent service attitude towards internal and external customers.
  • Able to work extended hours and selected weekend calling.
  • Knowledge of Retail Banking products such as Retail Banking Business products would be an added advantage.
