The Digital Risk & Control team, a global specialist first line team within International Wealth & Premier Banking (IWPB) Business Risk & Resilience (BRR), works to support and enable IWPB’s digital strategy, a core component of the success of the retail and wealth business line. The team seeks to proactively mitigate risk, building and strengthening controls for IWPB’s digital estate, and our customers’ interactions with the bank through digital channels.

What you’ll do:

The team works in close partnership with the IWPB Value Streams, product, transformation and technology leads, second line of defense functions, and other risk teams globally, regionally and in market with a focus on three core key pillars of work:

  • Support globally-led digital change in IWPB: following our established team processes, and in partnership with first line risk Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and second line of defense risk stewards, to identify and analyze areas of risk that may be present for new digital customer experiences, or new digital services or platforms. Working with commercial, customer and cost outcomes, designing controls for those new capabilities, and then support with launching into multiple markets. Ensuring risks are within appetite, controls are effective and monitored as the change programmes move from new development to business as usual.
  • Active controls management and maturity for global platforms: Articulation and management of lower-level control instances for the core digital platforms and operating capabilities, operated at the centre, and consumed by all IWPB markets. Perform incident analysis, root cause identification and deep dive controls reviews as required across the IWPB digital and analytics estate.
  • Hub-and-spoke market support: Each team member also acts as an established point of contact for market stakeholders for risk and controls support and expertise for IWPB digital change or digital capabilities. In addition, they support BRR colleagues to increase their digital controls capabilities and maturity with the support of a playbook and outcomes.

As a member of the Digital Risk & Controls Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Senior Risk & Controls Manager to help understand, assess and manage the risks faced by the Wealth & Premier Solutions value streams. The areas of responsibility across the three pillars of the team’s work includes:

Producing a Risk & Controls Position relating to the new digital journey/service/platform and ensuring alignment with market teams on risk assessment and governance.
  • Governance & Reporting: Assisting in the drafting and creation of presentation slides and reports for the relevant governance forums and working groups. Providing support to the Senior Risk & Controls Manager to interpret information, identify trends and drawing conclusions for onward reporting, including creation and monitoring of Helios issues and global incidents.
  • Key stakeholders: Applying commercial, diagnostic and problem-solving skills to manage underlying risk, reviewing current and emerging controls positions, challenging existing policies or processes where appropriate and defining new controls to enable IWPB’s digital strategy.
  • The Global Digital Risk and Controls team: Demonstrating strong analytical, stakeholder and collaboration skills across the three locations of the Global team.
