HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad (HBMY) is seeking a high-performing professional to join the International, Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Business Finance team as an International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Business Finance Manager, reporting to the Head of IWPB Business Finance.
This position is a key business partnering role, supporting IWPB stakeholders by influencing strategy and shaping the forward-looking financial outlook for IWPB in HSBC Malaysia, covering HBMY and its Islamic banking subsidiary, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad (HBMS).
We welcome candidates with a broad range of finance backgrounds, including analytical, commercial, accounting, control and operational experience. Prior exposure to retail banking and wealth is advantageous, but not essential.
Principal Responsibilities
You will be accountable for:
- Acting as a trusted business partner to drive initiatives, growth, strategy and profitability, including cost/resource allocation and capital management, to deliver key financial targets.
- Producing accurate, timely management information and senior-management-ready reporting and presentation materials for committees and leadership forums.
- Conducting performance analysis to identify risks and opportunities, and recommending practical mitigation actions.
- Supporting the business in setting strategic financial direction, including annual planning, budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
- Analysing income and profitability by product and customer segment to inform decision-making.
- Managing and monitoring business initiatives and projects with material financial impact on growth and performance.
- Supporting stress testing activities for both HBMY and HBMS.
- Assisting with compliance risk monitoring to ensure adherence to relevant internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Requirements
To be successful, you should have:
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, and/or a professional accounting qualification.
- More than 7 years’ experience in banking/financial services, accounting, audit or related fields.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capability, with a self-driven and delivery-focused approach.
- Effective communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Strong commercial judgement and a clear understanding of profitability and return drivers in financial institutions.
- Proven experience in business and financial planning, with end-to-end involvement from strategy shaping through to execution.
- Sound operational management skills, including the ability to design and implement risk and control frameworks and assess emerging risk trends.
- Demonstrated strong team work ethics, aligned to HSBC’s values.
- Resilience and agility—comfortable working at pace, responding to ad hoc requests, and balancing competing priorities.
- Programming capability (e.g., Python, VBA) or experience with Alteryx is a strong advantage.
