Collateral and Risk team is responsible for managing and mitigating various types of financial risks associated with collateralized transactions and financial instruments. The team oversees collateral related activities which involve the use of assets as security to minimize credit risk. The team ensures margin requirements are correctly enforced and that the appropriate collateral is available and properly utilized in transactions in margin lending, OTC derivatives and secured loans.
Global Support Executives is responsible for processing task within the Collateral Management functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing, compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
What you’ll do:
Business / Function:
- Provide daily operations support to ensure all tasks and processes are carried out accordingly as required.
- To ensure adherence to procedures and policies
- To ensure timely escalation of issues to senior management
- To provide process improvement ideas and assist in implementation
- To assist in projects and testing of new workflows and tools
- Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved
- To ensure full understanding of the products supported by the Collateral business
Customers/ Stakeholders:
- Provides quality customer service and ensures achievement of Performance Level Agreement (PLA)
- Provide customer service to all, both top and lower Management, consistent with Group and Company policies and standards. Working in a supportive team environment driven by people centric values.
- Phone interactions with customers, focusing on resolving their requests promptly with efficiency, accurateness, professionally and courteous manner to promote customer loyalty.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with business areas and identify areas of service improvements.
Leadership and teamwork:
- Actively support team by sharing workload, providing coverage and assisting during peak hours
- Communicate clearly within the team to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of operations
- Participate in team huddles, knowledge sharing and best practices discussion
- Escalate issues appropriately while keeping the team informed
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
- Ensure daily operational efficiency by effective BAU completion, escalations and decision making in own process.
- Issues are fully analyzed and resolved or escalated on a timely manner. Appropriate actions/controls are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points.
- Adhered to team’s control functions and end of day checklist/requirements.
- Ensure codification of legal agreements, issuance and bookings of margin calls/interest, identification of failed settlements, reconciliations and dispute investigations are performed in accordance with policies and procedures.
Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements):
- The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. Also, by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
- Observe and maintain internal control standards associated with HSBC policy/FIM requirements, across legal, compliance, credit, operations and other key stake-holder groups
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
- The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
- The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business must comply.
- This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
Role Context:
- This role is a processing role of collateral management which involves the codification of legal agreements, issuance and bookings of margin calls/interest, identification of failed settlements, reconciliations and dispute management.
- The role occupant will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day processes, controls are adhered to, and client queries are responded too in a timely manner. The role occupant will interact with external parties and internal teams across MSS.
- The role occupant will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- Cross train across the various regions to help support capacity planning and own individual development. Willing to work in any assigned working hours in accordance with business requirements.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
Skills & Experience:
- Good understanding of financial products, including equity/fixed income OTC derivative, FX products and basic knowledge of ISDA/CSA is a bonus
- Strong teamwork and collaboration mindset
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear communication skills (verbal and written)
