We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Assistant Product Manager, Mortgage
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Mortgage Product team. The job holder is responsible for developing and executing strategies and initiatives that grow Mortgage business in a responsible manner. The core product management encompasses pricing strategies, risk management and market mapping).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Strategy & Growth (Portfolio & Balance Sheet)
- Support the end-to-end management and strategic development of the entire mortgage product lifecycle, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.
- Assist to develop and execute a robust Balance Sheet growth strategy focused on increasing new customer acquisition volume and enhancing existing customer retention to achieve sustainable portfolio expansion.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the property development industry to penetrate new customer segments and drive incremental revenue.
- Support the development of product pricing framework, ensuring optimal commercial outcomes that balance volume growth with mandated profitability targets (P&L).
- Drive initiatives to optimize product profitability through margin management, fee structure review, and cost efficiency programs without compromising customer experience.
- Work closely with the key stakeholders – Distribution, Finance and Risk teams to maintain a healthy product profitability, balancing growth with prudent lending practices.
- Contribute to the design and execute a compelling cross-sell strategy focused on integrating mortgages with high-value products like Wealth Management, Insurance, Deposits and Credit Cards, ensuring a holistic relationship to enhance client satisfaction and revenue.
2. Other Responsibilities
- To identify opportunities, recommend and implement process improvement initiatives to ensure sustainable growth and seamless customer experience.
- To actively participate and implement changes in projects or ad-hoc tasks in accordance with business needs.
- To adhere and ensure compliance of audit requirements and implementation of Group and Regulatory Compliance policies.
- Customer Relationship Management - Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing excellent customer service and support including proactively addressing customers’ concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in product management within the Financial Services/Banking industry or large corporate firm, preferably with experience managing a mortgage or secured lending portfolio in Malaysia.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in banking, business, economics, finance, marketing, communications or a related field. MBA or relevant professional qualification is a plus.
- Proven track record of driving significant P&L improvement and Balance Sheet growth in a challenging or competitive market environment.
- Strong business decision making and have good planning and organization skills:
- Evidence of a strong collaborator with proven ability to influence broadly and challenge conventional thinking.
- Superb ability in strategic thinking and the ability to frame business problems.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to translate data into meaningful information and actions.
- Excellent communication skills & ability to work with other stakeholders in the bank.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of the Malaysian property market, financial services industry, competitors, lending regulations and target market.
