Your career opportunity
Join our Crypto Engineering team, where we help protect the organisation by strengthening cryptographic controls across platforms and services. As a Crypto Engineer, you’ll support a range of cryptography initiatives, contributing to assessments, analysis, testing and troubleshooting across certificate lifecycle management, SSH key discovery, HSMs and post-quantum cryptography topics.
What you’ll do
- Support cryptography initiatives across the wider Crypto Engineering team, contributing to secure-by-design outcomes
- Participate in assessments covering PKI certificate lifetime management and certificate operations
- Assist with SSH key discovery and related control improvements across estate
- Contribute to HSM testing and validation activities to ensure cryptographic services are robust and reliable
- Provide input on post-quantum cryptography-related considerations, impacts and readiness activities
- Work closely with a small team of engineers to share ideas, challenge assumptions and improve solutions
- Perform technical analysis, debugging and investigation to resolve cryptography-related issues efficiently
- Identify opportunities to improve ways of working through automation and process enhancements
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Solid understanding of core cryptography concepts including encryption/decryption, signing, certificates, and symmetric and asymmetric algorithms
- Good working knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems
- Experience across infrastructure technologies such as VMware, Windows and Linux infrastructure, databases, firewalls and networks
- Hands-on experience with automation and tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Splunk and Postman
- Understanding of software release management and deployment tools such as GitHub and Jenkins
- Working knowledge of databases, particularly Microsoft SQL
- Identity and Access Management understanding including RBAC and Privileged Access Management
- Experience with service management processes and tools such as ServiceNow and change management using RFCs
