We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Business Resilience Risk, Corporate and Institutional Banking, and Transaction and Payment Processing, Asia and Middle East
Role Purpose
- Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of Group Risk and Compliance. The ERM function will support the integration of our Group Framework and Appetite Management, and have broad oversight of the Risk Taxonomy. While the core risks of the bank remain consistent compared to a few years ago, the way in which they manifest, the speed to crystallisation and the connection points between them have become increasingly complex. It is therefore essential that we are equipped with the knowledge to navigate the dynamic and interconnected risk landscape of today. The objective of ERM is to develop a holistic, portfolio view of the most significant risks to the achievement of the Group’s most important objectives. The role will be expected to work across the management matrix, including global, regional and country-level stakeholders, to support the risk oversight of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), and act as the subject matter expert of Transaction and Payment Processing (TPP) risk of Asia Middle East (AME) one of the key regions for HSBC Group. The role holder will be the primary responsible for effective management of business resilience risk associated activities within the business, and for oversight of TPP risk of Hong Kong and the AME region
In this role, you will:
- Directs and supports CIB on their business resilience risk management (Third Party Risk, Data Risk, Transaction and Payment Processing Risk, and Business Interruption and Incident Risk) and acts as a key contact for stakeholder engagement with the Business in Hong Kong and the AME region.
- Provide 2nd line risk stewardship and guidance on CIB business activities which includes collaborating with the Resilience Risk Specialists to provide independent review and challenge, highlight material risk considerations and necessary mitigations required to ensure business resilience to potential disruptions
- Act as the subject matter expert of front-to-back Transaction and Payment Processing Risk including end-to-end payment lifecycle, processing flows, controls, issues and remediations for the region and provide a consolidated 2nd line risk view for CRCO, Asia and Middle East
- Oversight of emerging risks, strategic business initiatives, local change activities and new products to ensure that potential risks are identified and managed effectively
- Conduct thematic reviews with a priority on TPP risk across the Business to ensure that risk and control environment is commensurate with the scale and nature of operations
- Drive and liaise with the Business in Hong Kong and the region to ensure that risk management frameworks and incident management protocols are embedded effectively, and provide guidance to sites to achieve the same
- Support the Regional Head of Business Resilience, CIB and TPP on the risk oversight and stewardship of the CIB business in Hong Kong and the region as required
To be successful, you will need:
- Strong Payments and Transaction Banking expertise with demonstrated senior-level experience in one or more of: payments products and services, end-to-end processing and controls, operational and client impacts of outages and processing breaks
- Ability to translate product/process knowledge into credible risk challenge (knowing what “good” looks like operationally for payments)
- Knowledge of CIB sub-business lines (Banking, Markets, Securities Services) is a plus
- Proven experience in a relevant role in Payments Risk, Business Risk and Control, Data/ Third Party/ Technology Risk or Resilience/Incident Risk, ideally within financial services.
- Strong understanding of risk management by incorporating risk considerations in business activities.
- Highly analytical, able to interpret complex MI (volumes, exceptions, outage metrics, ageing, loss events) and turn it into actionable risk insights.
