Senior Finance Manager - Strategic Cost management - 9 Month Fixed Term Contract
Kowloon City, Kowloon, HK
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Finance Manager - Strategic Cost management.
In this role you will
- This role will lead on the development and implementation of a new centralised cost reporting framework for HSBC Hong Kong, and once that implementation is complete will be responsible for ongoing analytics, benchmarking and forecasting to support cost planning and investment prioritisation including through the annual Financial Resource Planning exercise.
- The role holder will ultimately drive Hong Kong Finance’s advocacy for cost management, including governance and discipline on investment business cases.
- Key challenges will include the inherent complexity and scale of the Hong Kong business and reporting perimeter, the need to align multiple data sources and outputs from multiple reporting tools, existing expertise being spread among multiple teams, diverse reporting formats and granularity, and limited understanding of the basis and drivers for some current cost recharges into the business lines.
- Establishing a ring-fenced perimeter reflective of costs owned and managed directly within the Hong Kong perimeter (as opposed to non-controllable costs allocated to Hong Kong) will be a key part of this delivery, alongside clear identification and analysis of intercompany income recognised in the perimeter.
- Working together with the Head of Commercial Insight & Advisory to align all business units to this new reporting framework, the role-holder will naturally establish alignment of the resources focused on cost reporting across the various business finance teams and will drive towards convergence under a single consistent service proposition to the business lines.
- The role holder will provide support to HK ex HS Global Business teams and regional GB&M finance and COO team to provide transparency and drivers to help understand the costs which are charged from DBS & GFs.
- Resources offshore will be leveraged to build, run and maintain the newly developed FP&A reports and to perform other routine tasks under the overall supervision of the role holder. The role holder will drive this industrialisation of standardised processes to ensure efficiency.
To be successful you will need
