We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Control Manager, Hong Kong Operations.
In this role you will:
- The role holder will partner with the HK Operations Teams to ensure delivery of risk based, strategic outcomes, including informing and advising on risk and control issues, initiatives and updates that impact HK, supporting the Operations Team to manage the HK Operations risk profile and designing strong sustainable controls.
- The role holder is accountable for execution of Global Risk and Control policies and frameworks for risk management across HK Operations. This role requires a significant level of oversight, communication and management and is required to manage and liaise with all HSBC areas, external parties and at the senior levels of management.
- The role will be part of the GCOO CCO Function. The purpose of the CCO function is to enable colleagues within HSBC GCOO to deliver safe and secure services to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself. This will be achieved by:
- Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and any remediation activity.
- Partner and advise on setting, communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements, including appropriate support and challenge.
- Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of our control performance.
- Facilitating controls remediation where required.
- Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
- Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviours.
- Embedding the bank’s Risk Management Framework
- Promote risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis
- Provide specialist risk and control knowledge and insights
- Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
- Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours
- Drive the development and implementation of future-fit risk management frameworks
- Influence and shape the development of regulatory frameworks in collaboration with internal parties
- Promoting desired behaviours and a positive risk culture
- Managing and shaping a team of professionals across the function / region with increasing effectiveness with a high level of discretion
- The role holder will be responsible for first line of defence activity, and will engage with second and third line of defence proactively and collaboratively to ensure the consistent and effective implementation and performance of operational risk framework and control assurance of the first line of defence for HK Operations.
To be successful you will need:
- University graduate with 10 years experience of non-financial risk management within a global organisation, working across cultures and within a complex matrix structure.
- Proven experience of leading multiple teams and projects in a large matrix organization
- Experience of developing and implementing comprehensive, enterprise-wide strategies and frameworks
- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills to all level of stakeholders with sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally
- Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, political, competitors etc.).
- Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills with experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior stakeholders and external parties
- A change agent who challenges the status quo diplomatically constructively and positively in order to lead relevant strategies that enable safe growth of HSBC.
