SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER. 

In this role you will: 

• Global ownership of the IBM Z Core Technology architecture and design for multiple technology pillars including hardware, software, storage, network, performance and open technology
• Create and implement the global best practice, engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures for IBM Z platform to aid and improve performance and quality of services
• Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet platform objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets
• Take ownership of the engineering policy, guidelines and any associated documents
• Define global practices and guidelines for code repository management, quality assurance checks, continuous integration, continuous delivery, development practices and automated deployment and management
• Clear global guidelines and standards to be developed and communicated on the approaches and tooling required for all solutions engineering on IBM Z platform
• Design, develop and implement solution for all aspects of the infrastructure delivery lifecycle: build, test, scan, deploy, validate, rollover and self-healing
• Identify/Promote emerging technology trends and practices in the engineering space to ensure IBM Z is leveraging them when appropriate to increase efficiency and productivity, reduce costs, and drive value
• Foster relationships/partnerships with key stakeholders including vendors to develop sustainable solutions
• Partner with other domains including batching scheduling, cyber security, automations and developer services on engineering practices, centralized logging/monitoring, and transformation efforts to ensure proper scope, resources, and costs allocated to deliver best value to customers
• Develop operational playbooks to improve knowledge sharing among the teams and simplify onboarding and training of new team members
• Facilitate and lead cross team collaborations both on and off IBM Z platform

To be successful you will need: 

• Has extensive experience of the IBM Z infrastructure environment
• Has worked extensively with multi-regional and multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong leadership and management skills together with the ability to motivate staff from a variety of backgrounds
• Has the ability to develop a culture that embraces innovation, and challenges existing paradigms
• Has personal attributes that include being a self-starter, collaborative, curious, strong work ethic, highly motivated, adaptable and team orientated
• Has good communications skills and ability to motivate and communicate at all levels of the organization
• Has good understanding of development and design concepts
• Has experience of a number of DevOps tooling, in particular; Jenkins, Ansible, Github and Nexus
• Has provided leadership and management to build high-performing teams and continuously upskill team members to keep them current through development programs
• Must have excellent problem determination skills as well as excellent organisational skills and be a true team player
• Be able to build effective networks across different areas within HSBC developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
• A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own and others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
• Be genuinely passionate in building modern day solutions that work and simplify the current processes with a “customer first” disposition
