Role Purpose
The Asia Regional FX & Commodities function in Hong Kong is the evolution of a regional structure created to support the FX & Commodities Operations target operating model for the 19 sites across the Asia Pacific region. The roles and responsibilities of this function based in Hong Kong will encompass post trade analytics and client services to local Corporates with local language requirements, as well as support to specialized products and business such as the Precious Metals (Commodities) business.
Responsibilities:
- The role of the Commodities Operations Manager will primarily manage checker control that covering specific confirmations and settlement operational processes for Foreign Exchange & Commodities contracts, plus Precious Metals Custody process.
- The day- to- day BAU processes will involve interactions with other internal functions within the Bank across different geographical locations as well as external clients.
- Observe trade lifecycles promptly to ensure settlements are effected within tight deadlines and are in compliance of all risk controls
- The candidate will be expected to have good communication and leadership skills; demonstrating pro-activeness to manage client expectations.
- Where opportunities arise, strong problem solving skills will be essential to undertake client efficiency and post trade analytic activities to improve operational processes and added value client services.
- The candidate will be required to follow FIM’s processing control principles to ensure transactions are processed accurately without operational errors or losses in accordance to Global Standards.
Key Requirements:
- Strong people-management capability, with experience building and leading a small operations team and mobilising team members to support multiple initiatives and business priorities
- Strong problem solving skills – to effectively resolve day to day BAU operational issues
- Pro-active and driven – willing to learn demonstrating the ability to learn new or complex processes quickly on routine BAU, Client Efficiency/Post Trade Analytic activities, or project initiatives
- Client Services - demonstrate the ability to interact with internal/external clients and managing client expectations
- Demonstrate strategic thinking – understanding the key essence of the process designs and controls
- Good communication skills with clear and concise articulation of details
- Subject Matter Experts (optional) - knowledge and past experience in dealing with Global Market products including Precious Metals; and related end to end operational processes and controls will be an advantage – confirmations, settlements, GL Posting, Nostro/Suspense Account Reconciliations.
