We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Chief Control Office, Senior Manager Operational Resilience

 

In this role you will:

Impact on the Business

  • Accountable for sustaining the delivery of the Operational Resilience processes for HSBC, Hong Kong, policies and controls framework to make sure that activities remain aligned with business and regulatory measures.
  • Support the businesses to complete required mapping of business processes and underlying operational assets related to Critical Operations based on the overarching framework for Operational Resilience, including the key standards and the requirements under HKMA SPM OR-2.
  • Accountable for supporting the execution of HSBC framework requirements and development plan in alignment with the HSBC Operational Resilience strategy, ensuring that standards and principles are delivered in a timely manner by the business teams who need to implement against the appropriate frameworks and standards.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Support the Head of AMH Operational Resilience to represent Executive Management and Board members globally through supporting HK Pillar and global businesses operating in HK in the production of key artefacts relating to Operational Resilience Frameworks.
  • Support the Head of AMH Operational Resilience to design and execute governance of Operational Resilience, with a focus on metrics and reporting to assess resilience posture and drive actions to uplift where required. 
  • Partner with Businesses, Technology and other key functions (Risk, Internal / External Audit) to ensure a holistic view of Operational Resilience is delivered to a quality standard on time. The Manager will work independently and should have a high level of flexibility to consult with the business at all levels.
  • Adopt an agile and flexible approach to work and an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct.
  • Ensure that all deliverables to your stakeholders are concise, precise, impactful and actionable.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • The role will involve supporting the AMH Operational Resilience team and Hong Kong Chief Operating Officer with a number of high-profile and critical deliverables that will require the input and collaboration of a large set of senior business stakeholders across the wider bank’s organisation.
  • Identify areas of improvement in embedding and enhancing Operational Resilience outcomes and standards in Hong Kong, working closely with business teams and functional areas.
  • Support stakeholder engagement across a wide variety of HK stakeholders with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration values in interactions with members of the Operational Resilience. 

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Support AMH Head of Operational Resilience to oversee Business lines and functional areas to ensure the successful embedding and enhancement of operational resilience frameworks.
  • Monitor and report key metrics and KPIs for Operational Resilience alongside lessons learned to ensure optimal effectiveness of key frameworks and procedures.
  • Contribute to the businesses monitoring of the status of relevant Operational Resilience controls and outcomes through Risk and Control reporting.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • 5+ years experience in Operational Resilience, operational risk management, ideally within a global bank/financial institution. Operational Resilience experience (or similar) is strongly preferred.
  • Proven outstanding experience of engaging cross-functional activities and delivering outcomes through influence across multiple stakeholder groups, working across cultures and within a complex matrix structure.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, operational resilience concepts, and related external environment including regulatory (HKMA SPM OR-2) compliance requirements.
  • Extensive experience of using multiple analysis techniques in a change environment, with a mix of business, operations and technology focused projects
  • Change management and implementation management techniques and frameworks.
  • Experience dealing with uncertainty and changing circumstances, such as interdependencies, opportunities or risks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment – risk, regulatory, political, competitors etc.
  • Overall financial services industry knowledge with specific functional expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese, with the ability to convey complex concepts to varied stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to build relationships and influence key internal stakeholders and able to articulate status of activities in a concise and understandable manner.
  • Strong relationship management, collaboration with experience of positive, challenging interactions with stakeholders.
  • Assertive, proactive and proven ability to work independently to drive action and report status including governance papers in order to implement relevant strategies that enable safe growth of HSBC.
