The Role

Fraud threat vectors are evolving rapidly across traditional and digital channels and HSBC is accelerating the use of AI-driven decisioning to protect customers and the bank while delivering a great customer experience. This role is accountable for delivering a multi-year business and technology transformation that modernises fraud detection and prevention capabilities HSBC. A core focus is building and scaling an AI-enabled fraud decision ecosystem - including the platforms, data, controls, investigations and operations -  to develop, deploy, monitor and continuously improve AI/ML models and agents safely and at pace.

 

You’ll own programme strategy, planning, governance, financial management and risk management across central and market teams and run a multi-location delivery organisation. Success means putting AI-enabled fraud decisioning and agentic operations architecture into production repeatedly with strong model lifecycle controls and delivering measurable outcomes across fraud loss reduction, customer experience, operational efficiency and regulatory and control compliance.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the global fraud transformation programme including strategy, approach, planning, execution governance and benefits realisation
  • Oversee cross-functional delivery across Fraud Operations, Fraud Management, Analytics, Technology and third-party vendor(s) with clear accountability and pace
  • Establish programme governance, dependency management, RAID, delivery assurance and reporting aligned to the HSBC Change Management Framework and relevant FIM requirements
  • Govern implementation across IWPB markets and coordinate transition into BAU operations with sustainable operating models and capability uplift
  • Set direction for platforms and processes that enable rapid deployment, monitoring and updating of fraud detection AI/ML models across channels
  • Set direction for platforms and processes that enable the deployment of AI agentic support for Operations and Investigations
  • Embed industrialised model lifecycle practices (MLOps/ModelOps) including model performance monitoring, drift detection, retraining triggers and controlled release management
  • Partner with Analytics/Data Science and Technology to ensure data readiness, feature availability, lineage and scalable decisioning architecture (real-time and batch as required)
  • Embed Responsible AI and model risk expectations into delivery including explainability, auditability, documentation and appropriate controls for model changes
  • Shape the operating model and ways of working that connect Fraud Ops, Analytics and Technology into a single value stream that responds quickly to emerging fraud typologies
  • Manage senior stakeholder engagement and communications across global, regional and market stakeholders including Second Line of Defence and relevant risk partners

 

What we're looking for

  • Bring demonstrable experience delivering AI/ML-enabled products and platforms, including agentic solutions to improve colleague and customer experience,  into production usage
  • Partner with Data Science, Technology and Product teams to adopt latest AI technology architecture and patterns to enhance Fraud management capabilities
  • Experience delivering large-scale business and technology transformation programmes in complex regulated environments
  • Demonstrate proven programme governance, financial management, risk management and delivery assurance at enterprise scale
  • Communicate clearly with senior executives and simplify complex AI and technology topics into decisions, trade-offs and outcomes
  • Apply working knowledge of model lifecycle controls including monitoring, drift detection, retraining triggers and release governance (MLOps/ModelOps)
  • Manage geographically distributed cross-functional teams spanning Technology, Operations and Analytics
  • Preferred exposure to Fraud Management in financial services including fraud decisioning across transactional and account-related channels
  • Apply understanding of fraud operating models, typologies and the practical realities of deploying decisioning into frontline operations
  • Operate with strong standards of integrity including confidentiality and adherence to policies, processes and regulations
