We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Capital Markets VS Lead.

 

Role purpose 

 

The roleholder is responsible for the technology strategy, /change delivery, and management of a portfolio of applications in the Capital Markets domain across client and staff channels, which is a critical revenue driver for the Retail Wealth and Private Banking business lines. The roleholder partners with key Retail Wealth and Private Banking Technology and Business stakeholders globally to drive alignment to target architecture and operationalization of systems across the regions.

 

The roleholder will also lead an AI-first platform engineering team, driving the development and embedding of AI solutions in global trading and derivatives platforms to unlock tangible value in terms of business growth, efficiency, risk reduction and improved customer outcomes.  Further, the roleholder is responsible for continually optimising the RTB cost base for his/her platforms whilst maintaining high service resilience and achieving delivery efficiencies and productivity uplift through AI/automation.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

 

  • Accountable for end-to-end delivery of Capital Markets products, services and journeys in IWPB, Private Banking and home markets, including change programmes and production services.
  • Accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining a forward-thinking strategy and Future State Architecture (FSA) for the Capital Markets domain, identifying emerging trends and technologies to remain competitive and innovative and ensuring that Technology Strategy is in alignment with and enables the overall Business Strategy.
  • Responsible for driving an AI-first Wealth development team for global trading and derivatives platforms, shaping architecture and engineering strategy and building resilient services for trade lifecycle, pricing, risk, and post-trade processing, optimising performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
  • Accountable for the AI and automation agenda for global trading and derivatives platforms, leveraging AI/automation to deliver measurable improvements in business performance, customer/colleague outcomes, operational efficiency and technical resilience.
  • Accountable maintaining Technology technical and operational standards and methods, ensuring that solutions are built with global reuse and scalability in mind and minimizing technical debt.
  • Accountable for production resilience and availability, monitoring and delivery of overall service / application health and effective service management for incidents.
  • Accountable for managing suppliers to ensure that service performance targets are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to risk and controls, security and compliance standards, delivering timely remediation where control deficiencies are identified in order to achieve GRAS targets, as well as delivering Technology Risk & Control Book (TRCB) of work.
  • Responsible for ensuring that appropriate technology business continuity plans are developed and maintained in global trading and derivatives platforms.

  • Lead a high-performing cross-functional delivery team, provide coaching and mentorship, and encourage professional growth.
  • Build and sustain an AI-first engineering organisation through effective talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, and capability development across software engineering, data/AI engineering, and platform disciplines.
  • Embed and mature the SRE, DevOps and Lean-Agile ways of working.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive and collaborative culture that encourages constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
  • Primary relationship with global stakeholders in the domain and in markets, to define a coherent vision and supporting technology roadmap in line with the business strategic priorities, the FSA, and enterprise Technology architecture.

 

Functional Knowledge

 

  • Deep domain knowledge in the Private Banking and Wealth context, with extensive experience in a global matrixed organization, a multi-divisional setting being a significant advantage.
  • Strong product knowledge of trading and derivatives platforms, including order and execution flows, key lifecycle events, pricing and valuation, risk modelling, confirmations, clearing, and settlement.
  • Strong software engineering background, with extensive understanding of modern engineering practices, SDLC, tooling, and a proven track record of delivering secure and resilient platforms.
  • Experience building and operating high-availability, high-scale, high-performance systems, including production support and operational resilience.
  • AI/automation engineering literacy, including identifying and delivering practical AI-enabled use cases, and partnering effectively with data/ML engineering teams to take solutions from concept to production.
  • Proven delivery experience with SRE, DevOps and Lean-Agile ways of working (e.g. Jira workflows, Scrum, sprint-based delivery).fa
  • Strong prioritisation and stakeholder management skills, able to balance conflicting and changing demands with a pragmatic, outcomes-led approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical topics clearly and logically to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
