Business Manager
Kowloon City, Kowloon, HK
Job description
GCB 5
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Business Manager.
In this role you will:
1) Project analysis & scope control
- Work with business sponsors and Technology leads to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success measures.
- Elicit, analyse, and document requirements using a pragmatic approach (BRD/requirements pack, use cases, functional specs where appropriate).
- Manage requirement traceability from business need → solution design → testing → sign-off.
- Control change: assess impacts, document decisions, and support change approval through project governance.
2) Governance, reporting & stakeholder management
- Support governance routines (steering/working groups): agendas, materials, decision papers, minutes, actions and follow-ups.
- Maintain project RAID logs and proactively manage dependencies across AME stakeholders (countries/functions) and Technology teams.
- Provide clear status reporting (progress vs plan, issues, decisions required, next steps), tailored to senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops to drive alignment on definitions, scope, priorities, and operating model impacts.
3) Data & control alignment (banking environment)
- Ensure requirements incorporate controls and non-functional expectations: access control, auditability, data retention, segregation of duties, resiliency, and operational readiness.
- Partner with Data Governance/Stewards to align data definitions, ownership, lineage expectations, and data quality requirements.
- Support control engagement (Risk, Compliance, Information Security) to ensure early alignment and reduce late-stage remediation.
4) Delivery coordination & test/sign-off support
- Coordinate delivery inputs across teams (Architecture, Engineering, QA/UAT, Operations) to keep delivery on track.
- Support test planning and execution: define UAT approach, create test scenarios, coordinate defect triage, and drive business sign-off.
- Ensure operational readiness artefacts are completed where required (handover, support model, runbooks, monitoring and reporting expectations).
5) Benefits realisation & continuous improvement
- Help define and track benefits realisation (e.g., improved data quality, MI automation, reduced manual reconciliations, faster reporting cycles).
- Identify opportunities to streamline governance and documentation without weakening control posture.
- Contribute to standard templates and ways of working for AME Data Technology project delivery.
Key deliverables
- Scope/requirements pack (BRD or lean equivalent), use cases, process maps (as-is/to-be)
- Functional requirements, non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Data requirements: definitions, mappings, DQ rules, reconciliation/controls requirements
- Governance artefacts: RAID log, dependency log, decisions log, stakeholder comms, steering packs
- UAT plan, test scenarios, defect management summary, sign-off pack
- Operational readiness checklist/pack (as applicable)
To be successful you will need:
Essential
- Strong BA fundamentals: elicitation, analysis, documentation, stakeholder management, and facilitation.
- Demonstrated experience in project-based delivery and governance (status reporting, RAID, decisioning, change control).
- Experience supporting data-related initiatives (data platforms, MI/reporting, data quality, data integration, metadata/lineage).
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams (understanding data flows, interfaces, and implementation constraints).
- Strong written communication skills—able to produce concise governance materials for senior forums.
Desirable
- SQL/data querying for validation and investigation.
- Familiarity with data governance and controls concepts (data ownership, stewardship, metadata management).
- Experience in financial services/regulatory environments.
- Exposure to project delivery methods (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid) and tooling (e.g., Jira/Confluence/MS Project).
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- BA or project certifications (IIBA/PMI-PBA/PRINCE2/Agile) are advantageous but not mandatory.
Stakeholders / Interfaces
- AME business sponsors and country stakeholders
- AME Data Technology engineering, architecture, and platform teams
- Data Governance / Data Stewards
- Risk, Compliance, Information Security
- Operations/Support teams and downstream data consumers (MI, analytics, reporting)
