We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Manager Operations, Cheque Processing (International Cheque).  

 

The job holder plays a vital role in managing the Cheque Clearing Operations of international cheque, domestic cheques and also need to provide centralized cheque clearing service received via various channels. He/she has to ensure the cheques clearing can be processed before cut-off time set by the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Ltd (HKICL) and the internal offline posting. He/she is responsible to coordinate the Cheque related projects before and after the implementation.

 

He/She is also required to allocate resources among different tasks in the section to ensure the performance could meet the committed service levels. Monitor performance of the team to ensure the compliance of all internal/external requirements. Review the workflow, procedure and contribute ideas on streamlining, elimination and migration of the process.

 

In this role you will:

  • Supervise and support International Cheque processing to ensure service quality and operating properly.
  • Manage Hong Kong Cheque team and monitor the performance of offshore Cheque team.
  • Investigate, escalate to management and apply remedies for operation issues and incidents in a timely manner (including but not limited to handle exceptional case and conduct Cheque investigation).
  • Suspense account reconciliation and monitoring.
  • Provides accurate MI reports and management reporting in a timely manner and analyze the MI reports to spot out underperforming areas.
  • Supports the management and mitigation of operational risk by identification, assessment, mitigation and control of operational risk of cheque processes.
  • Raises the awareness and alertness of financial crime activities relating to cheques and reduce the potential fraud loss.
  • Supports the planning and execution of business continuity and contingency plan and perform regular contingency drill exercise in accordance with HSBC and regulatory requirement.
  • Ensures the operations is compliant to HSBC FIM, regulatory standard and audit requirement and fulfills all control requirement via continuous review of working procedures.
  • Supports all streamlining initiatives / projects from planning to implementation for Cheque Operations.
  • Contributes to operational efficiency, productivity improvement and customer experience and manage the ad-hoc process changes as required.
  • Plans and manages the implementation of the change, to ensure business benefits are realized and that the transition from current state to target state is smooth
  • Control total number of operational loss and value. Effective manage risks and controls.
  • Improve the customer experience through automation, standardization and exceptional service delivery
  • Contributes to the motivation of staff
  • Lead and effectively manage the team and 3rd party supplier even under exceptional situation

 

To be successful you will need:

  • A university graduate with degree in Business, IT, finance, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years related experience including working as team leadership role
  • Proven job knowledge on cheque related
  • Proven experience of motivating the team to deliver exceptional performance and long terms results
  • Stakeholder and Third-Party management experience
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage timelines and individuals with pressures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Promote and lead best practice in risk and compliance management
