Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President - Trustee and Fiduciary Services.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Trustee & Fiduciary Services delivery for alternative and traditional clients across Europe (Ireland, Luxembourg, UK).
  • Manage fiduciary administrative tasks across multiple sub-processes with end-to-end accountability for BAU delivery from day 1 for newly onboarded funds.
  • Own service delivery quality and timeliness, ensuring KPIs/SLDs are met or exceeded with accurate, timely reporting.
  • Manage a team of ~20–22 FTE with ~8 direct reports, primarily based in Kolkata/Colombo, aligned to current footprint and growth.
  • Control costs in line with ROP and drive year-on-year efficiency to reduce overall run cost and marginal cost of new business.
  • Provide strategic support to the Global Operating Model, including workflow, platform and process change initiatives.
  • Drive migrations of increasingly complex activities from multiple jurisdictions into Securities Services within agreed timelines and risk parameters.
  • Maintain a strong operational risk and control environment in a high-variation, manual-processing landscape (single-event control failure threshold up to ~USD 10m).
  • Standardise processes across jurisdictions to minimise business variance, reduce operational losses YoY, and prevent repeat high-risk internal audit findings.
  • Build a high-performance culture through recruitment, training, performance management, succession planning, recognition, and actions to sustain morale, engagement and attrition targets.

To be successful, you will:

  • Commerce graduate (essential); higher qualifications in Commerce/Accounting/Financial Management preferred, plus additional financial industry certifications as an advantage.
  • Extensive securities industry experience with broad knowledge of Securities Services clients and products.
  • Proven management experience working with business partners across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Strong people leadership capability: remuneration exposure, performance management, team building, coaching and staff development.
  • Fund Administration/Custody background preferred, especially hands-on exposure to Pricing, Reconciliations, and GAV/NAV processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (written and spoken), able to convey complex topics clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail, with an accounting mindset and expert-level accounting knowledge preferred.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise competing demands and communicate trade-offs effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver operational change, with a solution-oriented, high-energy approach and strong stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of global market infrastructure; knowledge of derivatives instruments and NAV reconciliation experience preferred.
