Markets and Securities Services is part of our HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking division, a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Our Markets and Securities Services business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with detailed knowledge of local markets. Our services are offered both online and offline in 58 countries and territories. We specialise in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets as well as securities services.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of SVP Head of Business Management, Markets & Securities Services
Principal Responsibilities:
Performance Management: DRIVE operational excellence and efficiency
- Lead initiatives to simplify and optimise processes, making the business more agile and dynamic
- Oversee performance management across Markets and Securities Services, ensuring effective execution against strategic and financial objectives
- Support the delivery of the Group’s sustainability agenda, including the transition to net zero in our own operations
People & Engagement: FOSTER a culture of high performance and delivery
- Build, lead and motivate a high‑performing team within Markets and Securities Services Business Management
- Champion HSBC’s values, ensuring a culture of integrity, collaboration and inclusion
- Develop, retain and upskill talent, empowering colleagues to drive productivity and operate at their best
- Represent Markets and Securities Services externally with clients, regulators, other third parties and the wider Group where required
Growth & Efficiency: ENABLE business growth and deliver exceptional service
- Work in close partnership with the Head of Markets and Securities Services to define and execute the business strategy, informed by Group priorities, the “one‑bank” model and external market developments
- Define the future business capabilities required to deliver the strategy and drive Markets and Securities Services towards its desired front‑to‑back operating model, ensuring it is maintained and updated as required
- Lead and coordinate key change, transformation and digitisation initiatives across Markets and Securities Services to enhance client experience, improve efficiency and support scalable growth
- In partnership with the Head of Markets and Securities Services and Regional Heads, assess the implications and impacts of market and regulatory changes on the Markets and Securities Services business model, and develop corresponding strategies and implementation plans
Risk & Control: PROTECT the bank, our customers and stakeholders
- Ensure robust governance structures are in place to oversee the execution of strategy and implementation plans, enabling effective oversight, control and monitoring
- Strengthen the control environment and enhance operational resilience, with a focus on conduct, operational, regulatory and financial risks
- Lead and direct specified complex projects, including Markets and Securities Services regulatory and risk‑related programmes
- Drive an effective new product due diligence and approval framework in partnership with relevant control functions
- Promote a strong risk and compliance culture, embedding effective risk management practices across the Markets and Securities Services business
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary team of (approximately 3) professionals across Business Management, Non‑Financial Risk and related support functions
- Set clear objectives, priorities and performance standards for the team, ensuring alignment with Markets and Securities Services and Group strategies
- Coordinate and align regional and local Business Management teams to ensure consistent standards, ways of working and best‑practice sharing across the franchise
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven experience in the Financial Services industry. Previous experience in treasury, finance, compliance, audit, risk management, or any other oversight, monitoring function is a plus
- Knowledge in Treasury products and relevant regulations - local & global is mandatory, while experience in managing conduct risk and internal control principles are advantages
- Customer centric mindset and ability to manage complex interactions effectively
- Ability to bring divergent ideas to create new and valuable solutions
- Good problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively with proficiency in both Indonesia and English
- Certified Risk Management acknowledged by Bank Indonesia/OJK – level 4 at minimum
