Job Title: VP - Liquidity operations - CIB COO

Liquidity Operations team ensures delivery of sophisticated Liquidity products namely Global Liquidity Engine, Cross Border Cash Concentration, Global Deposit Pricing, Liquidity Investment Solutions, and Legacy Pooling & Cash Concentration. The role primarily is responsible for overall Incident management for any failures across Liquidity Propositions, Produce MI’s, Vendor management, Application releases, System defect fixes, Stake holder management, Reference Data Setup, Customer Setup, Country Deployment, User Acceptance Testing, Functional Regression, Production Verification Testing, Enquiry Resolution, Interest rework solution etc.

Role holder will be responsible for

  • Effective management of an extensive network of stake holders within HTS, GPS, Regional payments teams and other global functions
  • Responsible for overall management of liquidity, including Production (Operations BAU activities) and Deployment (UAT– for countries supported by Liquidity).
  • Successful delivery / implementation of new system platform across products/ markets
  • Responsible for overall management of the Liquidity Services team catering to global countries and multiple products, ensuring effective delivery of the Liquidity proposition. This includes Production (Operations BAU activities) and Deployment (UAT / PVT activities).
  • Lead planning, execution and sign off of User Acceptance Testing and Production verification testing of new countries / clients,as required.
  • Manage incidents caused by external factors through co-ordination and timely communication.
  • Participate in evaluation of new functionalities / enhancements where required.
  • Define service delivery requirements as part of new product proposition.
  • Overall management of operational framework for Liquidity Utility including setup of procedures, quality checking model, management information reporting requirements, system setup and contingency preparedness.
  • Ensure that standard practices around end-to-end workflow management, training, operational performance management is embedded into each proposition.
  • Ensure that the standard set of operational requirements are defined, documented and then embedded as 'core' into each deployment/ release whilst ensuring appropriate documentation and sign off for any variance / deviation.
  • Ensure that the Payments Service delivery teams (in-country and offshore) acquire the requisite system knowledge for all aspects of Liquidity propositions and are provided training before live implementation.
  • Ensure that standard workflows are aligned to Payments Risk framework & that every transition is managed with minimal operational disruption.
  • Embed various controls into the day-to-day operation to ensure risk free operation and enhanced customer experience.
  • Recruit and build Liquidity Utility with key talent, in line with GPS growth strategy.
  • Manage and support various in-country deployments for Liquidity
  • Lead end-to-end Liquidity Operations across markets, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and control adherence
  • Strengthen process governance and enhance audit readiness, with a focus on sustainable controls
  • Drive reduction in operational queries through process improvements, automation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Partner with Product, Technology, and Global teams to implement scalable and efficient solutions
  • Oversee incident management, ensuring timely resolution and root cause remediation
  • Deliver consistent performance against SLAs and KPIs, with a focus on quality and client outcomes
  • Build and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement

 

In this role, you will:

  • Effective management of an extensive network of stake holders within GPS and other global functions; to ensure accelerated delivery. Prioritization of resources and effective escalation of conflicting priorities, in senior management Steering Committees. Operational processes to be set up in line with Group Compliance policy and local regulatory obligations.Ensure that all new initiatives are compliant with Payment’s control framework.
  • Liaise and work with Regional Operational Readiness/ Project Managers for all Liqudity / SD teams /GPS team to ensure smooth implementation in each country. Close co-ordination and assessment of Ops Readiness Activities on an ongoing basis. By taking prompt action to address any weaknesses revealed by Compliance monitoring, audits and regulatory examinations. Robust governance model and reporting framework, with measurable milestones with GSD Payments
  • Critical Path and Management of Interdependencies. Conflict Management and issues resolution in times of escalation. Provide dedicated and centralized resourcing guidance to all Liquidity deployments.. Ensure cross-regional communication to ensure a globally consistent delivery of services / propositions. Ensure that consistent and effective training is imparted to all users ahead of Go live and any learning / productivity issues are addressed proactively. Provide framework for the capture & management of interdependencies. Facilitate on going cross communication mechanisms. Provide framework for the escalation of risks & issues.Key contact for all program resourcing issues and questions from hiring managers within project teams.
  • Support deployment of liquidity Proposition across the countries in plan, driving Global consistency, implementing shared best practice and monitoring progress against KPIs and stated execution plans. Lead the holistic aggregation of resources e.g., hiring, right shoring decisions etc. Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.  Implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Group Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer and Local Compliance Officers, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training.
  • Contribute to the overall corporate governance structure in payments, including policy and decision-making, as a member of various Committees. Proactively develop and execute risk mitigation measures to protect the Bank and its customers from all regulatory, compliance and service issues. Achievement of compliance and risk targets. Audit findings satisfactory. No exceptions unless specifically agreed. No overdue high risk audit points concerning level of governance and compliance with Global standards.

To be successful you will:

  • Strong domain expertise in Liquidity Operations / Cash Management. Proven experience in managing global operations and stakeholder engagement. Solid understanding of control frameworks, audit, and risk management. Demonstrated ability to drive process transformation and automation initiatives
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and leadership capabilities. Experience in liquidity product lifecycle. Exposure to transformation programs and system implementations

 

Others:

  • Hands-on experience in people management. Strong understanding of Liquidity processes. Deep understanding of liquidity products, limits and exposures and proven track record of mitigation such risks. Proven experience in operations preferably with Financial service or related field
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage time effectively. Proficiency in MS tools and advanced MS excel skills. Strong communication skill and ability to work with Diverse team. Experience in managing cross functional project and process improvements
  • Excellent written and oral communication. People management experience – Leading, motivating and developing, large teams with diversified responsibilities for min. of 2 years. Is a change leader to drive and implement changes within the Payments Business Service. Has in the past, taken difficult decision by keeping global strategy and / or bigger picture in view.
  • Has the ability to proactively seek, pre-empt and prevent bottlenecks by implementing practical solutions within tight deadlines. Understands the detail of the roles of various HDPI functions and can coordinate with multiple parties simultaneously to drive common objectives. Ability to understand and manage risk.
