We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Global Procurement Data Quality Lead
In this role, you will:
- This role is responsible for helping the Global Procurement function make better, data-driven decisions and drive mission critical business outcomes through unlocking business value from data. This is typically through complex data analysis, developing insights, high-quality reusable data assets and deploying artificial intelligence capabilities.
- We take a customer centric and consultative approach to develop business insights that that help HSBC’s senior leaders answer business critical questions such as:
- How do we create value in our supply chain and drive efficiency in our operations? How do we more effectively manage risk in our supply chain? How do we partner with our suppliers to drive towards net-zero?
- The Data Quality Lead is key member of the Global Procurement Data & Analytics leadership team responsible for the Data Quality capability aligned to HSBC’s Data management & governance standards. The insights the team provide to help senior leaders make key decisions are only as good as the underlying data. It’s essential that this data foundation is robust & trusted to unlock value; this is especially true and non-negotiable when it comes to adopting AI.
- This role is a focal point and champion for all things data quality and requires nurturing trusted and productive working relationships across procurement especially global process owners, operations & digital platforms. There is also close collaboration with the Data & Architecture Office (DAO), IT and both internal system owners and external data vendors.
The main responsibilities are:
- Own the Global Procurement Data Quality (DQ) framework (standards, critical data elements, controls, and scorecards) aligned to HSBC data governance expectations
- Set priorities for DQ improvement and coordinate actions, track progress and report outcomes to senior stakeholders, highlighting the impact to business KPI’s
- Maintain a library of rules against key processes and proactively monitor DQ through dashboards and other automated monitoring mechanisms. Identify changes and new issues, prioritise, conduct root cause analysis with the accountable process owner to provide and evaluate remediation options
- Build strong working relationships across Procurement, Technology, and data governance teams to embed DQ into day-to-day operations. Establish and run cross functional working groups as required & provide updates through the procurement design authority
- Ensure all change & transformation activity incorporate DQ & integrity activity into programme plans along with quantitative outcomes signed off in the design phase
- Define practical ‘ready for AI’ criteria (lineage, stability, and metadata) for procurement datasets and certifying that datasets are compliant before utilisation in AI use cases
- Design and oversee a Data Drift Monitoring framework to protect the integrity of ML models and identify model decay. Lead identification and analysis of complex problems with Exco +1 stakeholders, lead brainstorming to generate feasible and creative solutions considering all aspects and consequences
- Transform standard DQ Reporting into action-driven dashboards that directly correlate data integrity with operational risk and business impact. Act as a ‘trusted advisor’ to Global Procurement leadership providing industry best practice and suggesting enhancements to data quality that strengthen trust in key business insights. Represent Global Procurement at bank-wide data quality forum’s, build relationships and seed best practice from other data teams across the firm
To be successful you will:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in leading data quality initiatives with clearly demonstrable outcomes. Deep knowledge of the governance and management of data and appropriate tooling for the formal documentation of artefacts (data structures & models, data dictionaries, Collibra etc..)
- Knowledge of the data and analytics delivery life cycle including demonstrable experience & credibility across data modelling, fluency in SQL and familiarity with concepts such as data science. Capable of developing subject matter expertise in complex areas and demonstrating a resourceful, creative and inquisitive approach to complex tasks
- Exceptional analytical skills with a strong understanding of the power and value of data with an ability to apply technology solutions to meet business needs
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple outputs at one time. Proven demonstration of resilience and tenacity in achieving required outcomes, taking ownership and accountability to drive a task to the ultimate resolution
- Strong project management skills & ability to drive a cross-functional team to deliver outcomes within agreed time, quality and cost parameters (including managing through influence). Ability to build and maintain advisory relationship with senior managers, negotiate and challenge conventional thinking
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable working with senior management; ability to articulate data concepts, problem statements and solutions to non-technical stakeholders. Experience operating in a large, global matrix organisation and a regulated environment preferable (including data privacy experience). Demonstrate a passion for research and data, inspiring the same within the team; be proactive, take initiative and work independently
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform and QlikSense preferable. Conversant with business & data architecture and process mapping methodologies
