We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of : Senior Software Engineer
Department: - WPB Technology
In this role, you will (Key responsibilities)
Production monitoring & First response (L1/L2)
- Candidate should be ready to work on Production Support Activities in 24X7 Model and will be involved in Analysis and Resolution of Incidents.
- Monitor applications and infrastructure using agreed observability tools; respond to alerts and events.
- Perform initial diagnosis, impact assessment, prioritization, and ticket creation with clear evidence (logs, metrics, timestamps).
- Execute runbook steps to restore service quickly and safely.
Incident management
- Own incidents through to resolution within SLAs, escalating to L3/engineering when required with a well-formed handover.
- Participate in major incident bridges, provide timely updates, and track actions to closure.
- Capture incident timelines and contribute to post-incident reviews and RCA inputs.
Application & batch support (Java)
- Support Java services (start/stop, health checks, log analysis, JVM basics such as memory/GC symptoms).
- Support scheduled/batch processing: job monitoring, reruns, dependency checks, and reconciliation where applicable.
Database support (Oracle)
- Run operational SQL queries for validation and troubleshooting (read-only and approved scripts).
- Support Oracle-related incident triage: connectivity, session locks, slow queries symptoms, space issues (as per runbooks).
- Coordinate with DBA teams for deeper performance tuning and remediation.
Unix & Operational tasks
- Perform Unix operational activities: log review, file transfers, permissions, process checks, cron/job validation.
- Support middleware/integration touchpoints as needed (e.g., API connectivity checks, certificate expiry checks per procedure).
Cloud operations
- Monitor cloud-hosted services and respond to platform alerts (compute, storage, network, managed services).
- Support deployments and environment health checks; validate service readiness post-change.
- Raise and track cloud vendor/platform incidents wherever required.
Change & Release support
- Support production releases (including out-of-hours where required): Pre-checks, Verification, and rollback support.
- Ensure operational readiness: monitoring, alert thresholds, runbooks, and support handover are in place.
Continuous improvement
- Identify recurring issues and propose fixes: alert tuning, runbook improvements, automation opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge articles and support documentation; keep procedures current and usable under pressure.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in L1/L2 production support / application support / IT operations for critical services.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, especially during high-severity incidents.
- Hands-on experience with:
Java application support (logs, configuration, basic JVM troubleshooting).
Oracle (SQL querying, operational checks, understanding of common failure modes).
Unix/Linux (shell basics, processes, networking fundamentals, file systems).
Cloud operations (AWS/Azure/GCP—monitoring, basic service triage, access/logs). - Familiarity with ITIL-aligned processes: incident, problem, and change management.
Preferred skills (nice to have)
- Scripting/automation: Bash, Python.
- Observability tools: Splunk, AppDynamics/Dynatrace (or similar).
- CI/CD exposure: Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps.
- Containers: Docker/Kubernetes basics.
- Understanding of security controls (least privilege, audit trails, secrets handling).
