Job Title: Senior Control Manager, GPS OpsManagement
Purpose of the role
Supporting, advising and challenging Operations management to ensure that their risks are understood and well controlled. The role includes analyzing the performance of the control environment, performing end to end reviews, deep dive thematic reviews to identify weaknesses and designing new or modified controls to remediate these weaknesses.
Supporting the Operations GPS Ops CCO lead and the team to deliver the required support to Operations management covering the GPS Ops ASP, GSC China, MENAT region and Offshore Centers of Excellence based in GSC India supporting wider GPS Operations domain. Shoulder additional responsibilities beyond the region and support the team into becoming a much stronger team by sharing best practices, mentoring and coaching new staff etc.
The purpose of the role to support Payment colleagues within CIB to deliver safe and secure services to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself. Continually reassessing the changing environment and the impact of new technology and changes from the wider Global regulatory landscape. Payment business services operate in a highly regulated environment. Activities are performed in various areas and include account opening, closing, servicing, chargebacks, etc.
This will be achieved by Working with the Global Domain and Functional Leads to:
- Ensure that robust risk governance exists and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and remediation activity.
- Monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements.
- Assist in providing high quality and efficient reviews of Business Services control performance.
- Facilitating controls remediation where required.
- Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
- Support Automation programme;
- Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviors.
In this role, you will:
- Drive effective design of material operational controls.
- Drive effective design, analysis and remediation of control measures.
- Identify thematic and systemic issues in the control environment.
- Identify emerging risks and potential operational risk events.
- Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across CCO Operations and Lines of Businesses.
- Develop and agree an agenda for CCO Operations that balances the priorities across all stakeholder groups (external: CIB GPS, Transformation, Technology & Product at an Asia & Middle East (AME region); GSC entity and global level.
To be successful you will:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the Risks Associated with Payment Services supported by the group and specific reference to ASP
- Clear understanding of operational risk and how it is managed
- Knowledge of large-scale business processes (within banking or other industries) and the risks inherent in these processes
- Clear understanding on the end-to-end operations of a Payment journey including but not limiting to Payments Processing & Investigations, Reconciliations, Cheques processing, Client Management & Servicing, Global Billing Systems and pricing operations, Screening Operations impacting a Payments journey etc

What additional skills will be good to have?
Knowledge
- Detailed understanding of Payments operations activity and the regulatory environment in which operations have to operate.
- Knowledge of retail banking, commercial banking and investment banking Payment products and services
- Understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk polices
- Knowledge of best practice in risk management
- Fair understanding on Technological enhancements within the Payments domain, know-how on ISO Program and its impact in the industry and Operational resilience, would be an added advantage.
Experience
- Operating effectively in a complex, global organization
- Experience of managing operational risk
- Experience of designing and implementing process controls
- Experience of Payments Risk at a Regional level
- Experience in leading a Payments Portfolio in a market would be an added advantage
Capabilities
- Process design and/or process reengineering skills
- Expertise in risk and control reporting – especially in defining and measuring leading risk and control indicators
