We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain Python microservices (FastAPI) and REST integrations.
- Work with the HSBC Solution architect and product owner to build series of micro services that will form the model execution platform
- Apply microservice and authentication/authorization design patterns; ensure secure interfaces.
- Engineer resilient, containerized workloads; define and implement Kubernetes deployment patterns.
- Package and deploy services using Helm and Ansible; own CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Review and remediate vulnerabilities; harden images and dependencies.
- Optimize code and services for performance and scalability.
- Reverse-engineer containerized risk models to map interfaces; collaborate on scikit-learn/dataframe-based components.
- Develop automated tests (unit, integration, contract) and embed them in pipelines.
- Support ‘issue resolution’ and improve processing performance on the provisioned environments
- Use Python and similar technologies to reduce lead time to delivery and ensure deliverables align to overall Group strategic direction so that cross-functional development is usable
- Work independently on specialised assignments within the context of project deliverables
- Be required to set and apply high expectations with respect to quality, use of requirement management systems and document standards.
- Be required to manage a robust change control process to ensure change requests or changes in scope are identified and controlled
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- 10+ years backend engineering with Python; strong FastAPI and REST API design.
- Deep experience with microservices architecture and related design patterns (incl. authN/authZ).
- Proven delivery of containerized services on Kubernetes; solid with deployments/rollouts.
- Proficient with Helm charts and Ansible for production deployments.
- Security mindset: dependency management, vulnerability remediation, image hardening.
- Performance tuning of Python services (profiling, async I/O, caching).
- Test automation expertise for services; CI/CD integration.
- Ability to dissect existing containers to document and integrate with service interfaces.
- Strong Git workflows, observability practices (logging/metrics/tracing).
- Recognised analysis, design, development and testing capabilities. Skilled in modelling and analysis
- Strong documentation skills, promoting concise and clear written deliverables
- Exceptional drive, motivation and commitment and focus in operational excellence
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple outputs at the same time
- Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills
