We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Analyst, Financial Operations

In this role, you will:

  • Cost Management: As financial SME for the department, assume ownership of all aspects of cost reporting (direct costs, recovery charges, budget interlock, and target setting), acting as an independent challenge authority and influencing decision-making to ensure that Technology as a service is delivered on budget and stretch-targets are met.
  • Performance Management: Support the monitoring of direct and indirect cost performance, helping to identify risks and opportunities, contribute to the preparation and review of financial plans, forecasts, and headcount reports, help track consultancy and third-party spend, ensuring compliance with guidelines, support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives and monitor progress against targets.
  • Business Management & Operational Effectiveness: Provide high-quality Management Information (MI) to support decision-making at the LoB/sub-function level, assist with business management activities, including performance tracking, people engagement, and process improvement, handle complex operational demands and develop sustainable processes to strengthen budget, forecast, financial management, and reporting capabilities
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Support GCIO COO - CTO stakeholders: Partners with senior CTO management, Operations Director, and Operations Managers within the Cybersecurity team to provide oversight and support for all financial matters, act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology, Change) by providing consistent, well-governed data and analysis, build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Team Support & Coordination: Be an active and engaged member of the GCIO COO - CTO team and GCIO COO Finance pillar community, with engagement via Governance Forums, Working Groups etc. Proactively contribute to GCIO-wide enhancements and drive adoption of GCIO COO initiatives within CTO. Champion a continuous improvement environment to target best in class delivery and enabling processes. Leverage technology and good organizational design to drive the highest levels of operating efficiency.


To be successful, you will: 

  • Financial and Accounting Expertise: Demonstrates sound knowledge of cost management and accounting principles, as well as accounting and financial principles related to purchase orders, contracts, and operational expenses for hardware and software.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling the synthesis of complex information to make data-driven decisions that drive business outcomes.  Understanding of the HSBC Group strategy, structures, and processes, alongside knowledge of the external environment's regulatory, political, competitive, and market aspects.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks: Able to manage multiple competing priorities and to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.  Exhibits proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and PowerPoint, with a demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Continuous improvement and adaptability: Ability to challenge the status quo and pursue operational excellence through continuous improvement is a key attribute. Resilience and strong influencing skills are essential, particularly in conflict situations with senior management.  Willingness to engage actively and manage competing and changing priorities is crucial. Change agility is essential, focusing on driving and responding to change effectively.
  • Strong MI and analytics capability: KPI/KRI design, performance management, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and storytelling with data. Advanced reporting skills (e.g., Excel, Power BI/Tableau; SQL desirable; understanding of data models and ETL concepts beneficial). Understanding of operations/process management concepts (SLAs, queue management, capacity planning, Lean/continuous improvement).
  • Skills & Experience: 0-5 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Management Information, Business Analytics and Data Analytics, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into business insights, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and other visualization or reporting tools, experience working with large datasets and multiple source systems, strong understanding of operational KPIs, service metrics, productivity, quality, and risk indicators.
