If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President - Process Excellence and Governance

In this role, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the end-to-end process governance framework across supported products and markets (roles, decision rights, escalation paths, cadence).
  • Establish, review, and enforce global operating procedures, standards, and process documentation; keep governance artefacts current and audit-ready (process maps, RACI, control inventory, decision logs, trackers).
  • Drive process standardisation, simplification, and removal of non-value-added activities across regions, including automation opportunities.
  • Design, monitor, and strengthen operational controls to reduce operational risk and improve control effectiveness.
  • Coordinate governance forums (agenda, papers, minutes, actions) and maintain action/decision logs; ensure timely, high-quality closure of actions.
  • Lead issue and action management (triage, prioritisation, ownership, due dates, evidence standards) and oversee remediation of control gaps.
  • Support incident/operational event governance: lead root cause analysis, capture lessons learned, and drive sustainable corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies/standards; partner with Risk/Compliance to embed regulatory and conduct expectations into governance.
  • Provide governance MI (KPIs/KRIs, dashboards) and insights to senior leadership, highlighting governance health, key risks, and decisions required.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Operations, Product, Technology, Audit, Transformation/Change) to implement improvements, support new products/regulatory change, and deliver project governance and strategic transformation initiatives end-to-end.

To be successful you will:

  • 4–5 years’ experience in banking (Payments/Account Solutions/Liquidity) across operational excellence, project management, or business transformation.
  • Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional projects in a global environment and delivering measurable benefits.
  • Strong project management capability: planning, execution, RAID/risk management, stakeholder management, and benefits realisation.
  • Experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, defect reduction).
  • Solid understanding of process governance, operational risk, and control frameworks in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Hands-on governance forum leadership: agenda setting, paper quality control, minutes/actions, decision logs, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Skilled in issue/action management and audit lifecycle requirements, including evidence standards for sustainable closure.
  • Comfortable with process management artefacts and standards (process taxonomy, SOPs, process maps, RACI, control inventories, hand-offs) and ensuring consistent adoption across locations.
  • Able to interpret MI/KPIs/KRIs and convert insights into governance actions, prioritised remediation, and proactive capacity/ops impact management.
  • Delivery-oriented behaviours: clear communication and influencing (including constructive challenge), high attention to detail, strong ownership, resilience, and proactive problem-solving—covering change governance, system integration changes (e.g., MWS), migrations/remigrations, DSR/global status reporting, and location transitions.
