HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President MI and Reporting.

In this role, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end MI strategy and reporting framework for the Operations/Account Solution Process portfolio, including standard definitions, thresholds, and cadence.
  • Build and maintain executive dashboards, scorecards, and KPI/KRI libraries that provide clear, decision-ready insights.
  • Design, automate, and continuously optimise recurring MI reporting to reduce manual effort, improve timeliness, and strengthen controls.
  • Deliver high-quality MI packs and presentations for governance forums (Ops/Process governance, Service Management, Performance & Capacity, ExCo/Risk meetings), with strong narrative and actions.
  • Analyse operational performance (volumes, TAT, backlogs, rework, exceptions, SLA breaches) to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and root causes, and recommend actions.
  • Provide forward-looking analytics including forecasting, capacity planning, productivity metrics, scenario views, and benefits realisation tracking for change initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations, Product, Finance, Risk/Compliance, Technology, Change/Delivery, and Data teams to define requirements and deliver meaningful insights.
  • Establish and enforce data governance: data standards, lineage, access controls, reconciliations, quality checks, documentation, and sign-off.
  • Drive customer-centric MI (OKRs, customer sentiment, service levels, complaints drivers) and track adoption of key journeys/tools across markets (e.g., Connecto across 39 markets; PAD exceptions visibility).
  • Lead and develop analysts, improving data literacy and fostering a continuous improvement culture across MI and reporting.

To be successful you will:

  • Strong MI and analytics capability across KPI/KRI design, performance management, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and data storytelling.
  • Advanced reporting tool proficiency: Excel plus Power BI/Tableau (SQL desirable), with an understanding of data models and ETL concepts.
  • Solid operations/process management knowledge: SLAs, queue management, capacity planning, and Lean/continuous improvement principles.
  • Good understanding of risk and control expectations in regulated financial services, including operational risk, issues/actions tracking, and audit readiness.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, producing executive-ready packs and presenting to senior forums.
  • High attention to detail, strong ownership, and ability to work at pace across multiple priorities.
  • 5–6 years’ experience in MI, business/data analytics, or banking operations, with proven analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated experience designing executive dashboards and performance reporting using large datasets and multiple source systems.
  • Strong grasp of operational KPIs and service metrics across productivity, quality, and risk indicators; experience in reporting automation, data governance, and process improvement.
  • Success measured by timely/accurate MI delivery, improved data quality/governance, standardised KPI frameworks across markets, high stakeholder satisfaction, and analytics that drive measurable operational improvement.
