We are currently seeking a high-caliber professional to join our team as China Desk Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

In this role, you will:

  • Greater China Desk Lead role with responsibility over the inbound corporate business generated across China, HK and Taiwan into Vietnam nation wide. Remit across both CMB and GB Mastergroup customers and managing a team of Relationship Managers and Relationship Manager Support.  Desk Lead position to be based in Hanoi with oversight across Greater China RMs based in both Hanoi and HCMC.
  • Proactively conduct the business development and origination activity and tracking new investment from Greater China (inclusive of China, Taiwan and HK) into Vietnam, maintain regular connection with home country GRM/GRB, Clients headquarter as well as region and local management team. Experience in TMT, T&G, Renewable energy and EV sectors is advantage;
  • Act as ambassador to enhance Vietnam/HBVN’s visbility to internal HSBC stakeholders as well as external customers. Origination and execuation of business initiatives (not limited to roadshow, webinar, collaboration program with relevant regulators/intermidiaries, etc) to enhance the business collaboaration between Greater China and Vietnam to attract more potential inbound opportunities;
  • Manage and responsible for his/her own assigned Greater China portfolio. Closely work with the  Support to ensure customer’s smooth transactions/ requests;
  • Maintain regular contact / dialogue with Products Partners / Global Relationship Team (GRM/GRB)  to explore all potential business opportunities; 
  • Growing and managing the portfolios of Wholesale Banking borrowing and high value non-borrowing customers in Vietnam;
  • Deepening existing relationships and monitoring the credit risk associated with the portfolio, within the operating and strategic plans and in accordance with credit guidelines.
  • Expanding the Greater China customer base through vigorous New to Bank initiatives.
  • Be the First Line of Defend to protect the bank from any Financial Crime Risk, escalate all potential risks / unusual activities to the management
  • Client-oriented professional to proactively manage a complex portfolio of clients, becoming a trusted advisor to lead strategic dialogues with clients at a portfolio level through the understanding of specific business requirements and delivering creative and flexible customer solutions.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction through exceptional customer service, providing information about products and services that suit and fulfill customers' needs.
  • Adhere to the consistent application of Group policy and adherence to regulatory, financial, and legal standards to minimise business and reputational risks
  • Ensure responsibility for the delivery of efficient, accurate and timely processing of clients requests and transactions
  • Ensure losses through operational failings are minimized.

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience

  • Ten years’ GRM/RM experience in Corporate Banking
  • Motivated, positive and eager to learn.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with internal stakeholders to produce the best outcome for customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Mandarin- must, Cantonese - good to have)
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s operational procedures and systems.
  • Proven track record in a client focused environment.
  • Experience of working in a teamwork environment.  
  • Proven experience in identifying and managing the risks, issues and dependencies related to the business and in decision making
  • Customer service and team skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered
