Role Review:

  • A dynamic, fast paced role in the Real Estate Services (RES) team responsible for Operational Management (OM) that requires technical expertise, leadership, excellent stakeholder management and communication. The OM team will drive continuous improvement across the RES structure in areas such as Governance and Risk Control Operations, Change Execution, Financial Management and People.
  • The role holder, based out in Cairo, Egypt, is accountable for supporting the RES MENAT (Middle East Middle  & Turkey) Operational Management workstream that is responsible for Financial Planning, Cost Management, Risk & Control, Governance & Documentation and Communication & People Engagement.  
  • The role holder will pay a key role in supporting the Head of Operational Management for MENAT region in an array of areas within OM with constantly changing priorities, and dealing with multiple stakeholders across the region.

Job Profile text:

  • This role is responsible for contributing to all areas of Operational Management categories (listed below) for the Operational Management of MENAT RES

Primarily:

  • Financial Management – providing robust support for regional financial planning, cost management, tracking and reporting including close business partnering with Finance, and Global Business and Functions (GB/GFs).
  • Responsible for the management of cost planning and budgeting for Real Estate Services Markets, including managing recharges for Real Estate Services.
  • Governance & Documentation – ensuring appropria governance is developed and implemented with robust documentation and supporting management policies to manage RES Risks.
  • RES Governance and Risk Control Operations and the implementation of Global Standards – Possess knowledge of RES operational risks and controls, work with Country Heads and Workstream leads to identify, remediate and record any risk and issues in line with HSBC policy and provide support to regional Risk and Control Lead in running an effective RES Risk & Control operation.
  • Project execution – support with regional/country specific programmes assigned by Head of Operational Management MENAT.

 

And additionally:

  • Communication – developing and executing communication plans related to the Operational Management Function wider RES MENAT community as well as wider DBS (Digital Business Services) and GB / GFs where applicable
  • A “Manager” within Operational Management, will have responsibility in coordinating amongst workstream leads on the delivery of the above and are individual contributors.

 

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Financial Management – providing robust support for regional and market level financial planning, cost management, tracking and reporting including close business partnering with Finance, and Global Business and Functions (GB/GFs). This would include Cost Management for Tier 1 MENAT markets such as UAE and also supporting BAU cost management to Tier 2 markets such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Algeria and Kuwait. And, be the main point of contact for RES MENAT Planning and Recharges Lead in the event the regional lead is not available.
  • RES Risk and Control Operations - Be knowledgeable on RES policies procedures including FIM, RES DIM, and draft any regional RES DIMs as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Operational Management MENAT including research and presentation material preparation and regional and global ExCo updates as and when required.
  • Supports the delivery of Change Execution within RES MENAT in conjunction with Workplace and Employee Experience leads in MENAT
  • Communication – supports the development and execution of communication plans, RES newsletter and other ad hoc communication requirement
  • Management Information – produce accurate, timely and robust management information related to senior management requirements, de briefs or updates as and when required, by coordinating with regional and country stakeholders
  • Governance & Documentation – support line manager to ensure appropriate governance is developed and implemented along with robust documentation and supporting management controls, including risk management governance
  • People – support line manager in the development of policy and process, in line with Regional HR, ensuring people are engaged, well managed and supported
  • Support line manager on ad hoc requirements e.g. regulatory reporting, presentations, data review exercises etc

 

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Operational Management MENAT
  • Develop and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with all internal and external parties 
  • Proactive sharing of material that can be used to educate and provide guidelines to the RES community in relation to quality assurance, governance and planning.
  • Collaborate with workstreams in country to deliver risk and control operations, communications, financial planning and reporting.

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Supports the governance process and control operations, and provide robust documentation
  • Provide management & support for the governance meetings
  • Supports line managing to ensure that the Operational Risk Management Framework, Risk and Control Assessments (RCA), Incident management, Top Risk Analysis, Control Monitoring, Key Risk Indicators and Reporting both to Group and through the RES regional Risk Management Meeting is maintained in line with global standard

Job Requirements:

HSBC is going through an unprecedented period of change in its move to a sustainable globally led and connected organisation.  There is increasing external scrutiny and pressure on the Financial Services industry from governments, regulators, media, investors and brokers.  The role holder needs to understand the potential impact of all these changes on HOST and HSBC and drive the HOST Function to respond accordingly. Qualifications & Experience:

  • Financial analytical background with a degree in financial accounting or financial management and, proven ability in financial/analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualise financial data into business activities and conclusions
  • Strong awareness and understanding of internal controls and operational risk environment.  Demonstrated results in risk management and implementing operational controls
