Some careers have more impact than others.
If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 62 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President - Senior ESG Reporting Manager
Principal responsibilities:
- The Senior Manager, ESG Reporting, will work with senior business, functions and finance stakeholders to ensure that Group external ESG disclosures are fair, balanced, understandable, and meet disclosure requirements. While this role sits within ESG reporting, we are open to candidates from external reporting, regulatory reporting, assurance/controls and governance backgrounds who can bring strong transferable skills.
- This role is a unique opportunity to work in an area of growing interest to regulators, investors, and the wider external market. Disclosure rules and regulation for ESG topics are evolving globally. There is a need to understand new and changing disclosure requirements, and how these can be best met through Group’s external reporting.
- As the ESG disclosures have grown in prominence, there has been an increased need for robust assurance and oversight of disclosed ESG materials.
- The Senior Manager, ESG Reporting, is responsible for the design, execution and documentation of Group’s disclosure and related controls to ensure consistent, reliable and accurate reporting of non-financial data. This includes but is not limited to:
- Analysing and operationalizing the delivery of the new ISSB standards, in the context of Group disclosures, as well as understating and supporting implications at local jurisdictions as ISSB standards get adopted locally.
- Lead on the delivery of the ISSB standards that are evolving. To start with, the focus will be on implementation of HKEX mandated standards, expanding to other standards as and when they get issued.
- Assess the operational risks associated with the role, taking account of changing market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, changes in the bank’s management structure and the impact of new technology.
To be successful you will:
- 10–14 years of solid experience in Finance at a major institution, with demonstrable end-to-end ownership of external disclosures and/or regulatory reporting (e.g. annual/interim reporting, financial or non-financial disclosures, regulatory submissions), including strong governance and control discipline.
- ESG / sustainability reporting experience is a strong preference, but not essential. Candidates with strong transferable experience in external reporting, regulatory interpretation, assurance/controls, and stakeholder management are encouraged to apply.
- Commercial outlook – able to connect numbers, performance drivers and ‘real world’ events.
- Deep knowledge of HSBC’s business strategy, operations and structure.
- Highly motivated, diligent, collaborative, personable and capable of working independently and exercising judgment.
- Project management skills, including creating lean processes and governance structures.
