Role Purpose:
To safeguard the Bank from potential loss on lending by ensuring that security documentation for accounts is obtained from the customers promptly as per Sanction Letter/Approved proposal.
To ensure that the security documents are enforceable and in line with Business Instruction Manual/ local regulations/ laws.To check that necessary charges have been created in the Bank’s favour. Also to ensure that security documents are loaded on Core Banking System and are archived as per process.
To liase with legal advisors, consortium banks and customers regarding various issues related to security documentation.
To assist in collation of various Returns to be submitted to RBI/Internal Auditors.
To ensure highest levels of service to customers, and with the objective of always protecting the interests of the bank within the spectrum of activities relating to Security Document checking, compliance with regulatory requirements, interface with the external auditors, and NPA related support activities.
To supervise/look after the operational aspect of Credit and also look into improving existing processes on a regular basis.
Role Context:
- Credit Operations Department is responsible for monitoring the operational aspects of facilities granted to the customers. Though the jobholder does not directly deal with the customer, he/ she plays an important support role in the Credit Department. The job holder is responsible for checking the approved proposals confirming that the security documentation has been completed before any facilities are drawdown by the customer. The task is critical as it protects the Bank’s interest and ensures that it is adequately covered at all times. The jobholder is in constant touch with the Relationship Managers with regard to Documentation. The job holder needs to do various reporting to RBI/Internal Auditors etc. within stipulated deadlines.
- The jobholder operates within the parameters laid down in BIM, RBI and IBA guidelines and other local legal requirements. He/ She adheres to the requirements specified by the legal department or by Solicitors and the terms and conditions as defined in the proposals and Sacntion Letter.
- This requires the job holder to be familiar with the legal intricacies and complexities of the documents, the impact of the various clauses in the documents with a view to secure the Bank’s interest and to ensure that they are within the RBI guidelines, FEMA etc. The jobholder needs to interact with the Bank’s legal counsel and sometimes with the customer’s Legal Department to ensure that the documents properly secure the Bank’s interest and that they are obtained promptly. The jobholder is also responsible for passing provision/write off entries for All India Bad & Doubtful Corporate accounts. The Job holder is required to collate various returns which needs to be submitted to RBI/Auditors.
Experience:
• 8+ years of relevant experience in credit documentation / wholesale banking operations.
• Proven expertise in loan documentation review, limit setup, and drawdown processing and strong familiarity with credit sanction terms, facility agreements, and security documentation
• Hands-on experience within a maker-checker control framework, including authorization responsibility.

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation validation.
• Strong ability to interpret and validate complex credit terms (pricing, covenants, tenor, limits)
• Sound understanding of regulatory guidelines and internal credit policies.
• Demonstrated risk awareness to identify and mitigate documentation and processing gaps
• Effective stakeholder management across Relationship, Legal, and Operations teams.
