We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of VP - Fraud Stewardship.
Principal responsibilities
Fraud Risk Team Purpose
Provide expert advice, oversight, check and challenge, so that the bank can protect itself and its customers from current and future fraud threats. This purpose is achieved by:
- Effectively understanding, measuring and managing fraud risk
- Effectively understanding, measuring and managing the control environment
- Deploying the right controls/defences at the right time
- Adhering to relevant policies and framework requirements
- Managing/driving industry and regulatory change
Role Overview:
The remit of the role holder will be, but not limited to:
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance in relation to all types of Fraud, with particular focus on payment fraud and scams-related queries received from various stakeholders.
- Identify, understand and evaluate fraud regulatory changes, including understanding our exposure to such changes and communicating our policy position across all markets.
- Support in fulfilling the 11 risk steward responsibilities as listed in the risk management framework, so that HSBC achieves appropriate standards of risk management and risk reporting and protects itself and our customers from current and future fraud threats.
- Collaborate effectively with FC Investigations and oversee the investigations and outcome of Fraud Operations.
- Maintaining oversight on Fraud losses and monthly Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) metric reporting.
- Reviewing key fraud KPIs / KRIs and preparing monthly analysis highlighting key trends/areas of concern
- Oversight and challenge on adherence to Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework and Risk Steward deliverables.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance in relation to payment fraud and scams-related queries received from various stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with FC Investigations and oversee the investigations and outcome of Fraud Operations.
- Partner with other Risk and Compliance SMEs, principally in Regulatory Compliance and Resilience Risk to ensure we consider Conduct, Vulnerability and Cyber risks associated with payment fraud and scams.

- Positive stakeholder feedback
- Minimal exceptions flagged for Fraud Risk stewardship (e.g. RSPI, DQs, etc) on a monthly basis
- Provides effective advice and support to stakeholders.
- Delivers quality reporting to management by the established deadlines.
- Drafting of papers meets high standards of quality and timeliness with minimal re-writes
- Clear analysis is presented to Senior Management on Fraud MI
- A proactive approach is exhibited in anticipating and mitigating future fraud threats.
