The GCIO COO function operates as the backbone of the GCIO organisation, taking ownership and accountability for all operational aspects to ensure a seamless running of the GCIO business to exceptionally high standards. Aligned to the overall HSBC business structure, focused on continuous improvement and simplification to support GCIO to a consistent high quality, GCIO COO acts as a key enabler to the firm’s ambition to ‘be the most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do’.

What you’ll do:

Workforce Strategic Planning and Forecast:

  • Own GBGF strategic HC plan in line with business strategy and location principles
  • Ensure execution of workforce plans in line with strategy
  • Drive accuracy for headcount forecast and aligned $s

Workforce Management:

  • Ownership and management of a bottom-up, role-based plan for permanent and non-permanent roles, aligned to funded projects & priorities
  • Accountable for ensuring the GBGF workforce moves towards agreed targets in line with workforce KPIs
  • Work closely with Ops Managers to ensure they are well engaged and informed of workforce priorities
  • Closely manage contingent workforce to ensure in line with GCIO policy e.g. tenure
  • Implementation of process within GBGF in line with Strategic Workforce Plan and targets and toolsets
  • Ensure the policies & procedures driven by Central team are adhered to
  • Accountable for data quality in Pioneer
  • Keep a track of and enable on the pace of the recruitment

Workforce Insourcing:

  • Implement and refine scaled hiring approach for the GBGF / persona led hiring
  • Responsible for educating and bringing GBGF hiring managers on the journey
  • Execute actions as per workforce insourcing plan
  • Track/ measure progress, drive actions to keep plan on track
  • Track project risks/ issues and take appropriate actions
  • Implement central laid out process/ approach for scaled Karat assessment
  • Provide inputs to bulk hiring events and be responsible for execution at GBGF level

Tooling Strategy & Execution:

  • Embed strategic tooling within GBGF, providing inputs/ feedback toward strategic FSA
  • Drive consistent tooling in line with strategy and move away from adhoc tooling

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leadership in workforce management roles within a complex, global organisation
  • Strong understanding of workforce management E2E lifecycle and recruitment processes
  • Demonstrable experience in managing significant resource plans
  • Ability to manage and mitigate operational risk effectively
  • Develops and maintains long term relationships with highly critical stakeholders internally and externally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes
  • Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment
  • Understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes
  • knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market
