Principal responsibilities
- Act as the senior enterprise architecture authority for CIB Asia Pacific, providing strategic direction across local, regional, and global initiatives, while offering senior consultancy and trusted advisory support to business leadership, Technology, and architecture stakeholders.
- Own the enterprise architecture strategy, roadmap, target-state direction, and enterprise architecture plan for the aligned remit, ensuring alignment with HSBC strategy and Group architecture practices, and maintaining strategic coherence across investment, transformation, resilience, and control objectives.
- Provide overarching design authority for major business and technology change initiatives across Asia Pacific, and act as senior design authority for technology decisions through relevant governance and approval forums.
- Lead enterprise and portfolio architecture across programmes spanning multiple domains, value streams, BGIs, platforms, and markets, and support the definition of a coherent business and technology change portfolio.
- Translate business strategy, capability requirements, and change demand into enterprise-level architecture direction and high-level solution outcomes, and guide the decomposition of strategic change into executable product or programme delivery.
- Oversee the production of key architecture artefacts, including strategic options, target-state views, high-level solution designs, dependency maps, and impact assessments, while ensuring full lifecycle architecture oversight from demand shaping and early solution assessment through governance and delivery support.
- Identify enterprise-level dependencies, integration points, delivery constraints, and risks across complex cross-functional initiatives, while driving architecture simplification, modernization, resilience improvement, and long-term sustainability across the CIB technology estate.
- Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and advise leadership on their strategic implications, opportunities, and risks, while promoting a strong culture of customer focus, governance discipline, architecture excellence, and stakeholder partnership, and leading, coaching, and developing architects within the sub-function and broader architecture community of practice.
Requirements
- Extensive IT architecture experience, including substantial expertise in enterprise architecture, principal architecture, and senior architecture leadership roles.
- Proven track record of operating at Principal Enterprise Architect level, or in a comparable senior architecture leadership capacity, within large, complex organizations.
- Strong Corporate and Investment Banking experience, supported by a sound understanding of resilience, risk, control, regulatory, and governance considerations within financial services.
- Significant experience defining enterprise architecture strategy, target-state roadmaps, and architecture standards across broad business, regional, or enterprise remits.
- Demonstrated success in providing design authority and strategic oversight across large-scale, cross-domain, and cross-business-line transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, operating models, governance, solution design, integration approaches, architecture controls, and complex application, data, platform, infrastructure, and cloud landscapes.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives, shape investment and change portfolios, and translate strategic intent into executable architecture outcomes across business and technology functions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex architecture topics clearly and credibly to senior audiences, alongside a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
