Principal responsibilities

 Stakeholder Management and Advocacy

• Establish close engagement relationships with respective Asia International Markets stakeholders from 2LoD (Second Line of Defense), CCO (Chief Control Office) and GBGI CDAO’s acting as their trusted focal point for data management and controls.

• Establish an effective mechanism to engage Asia International Markets stakeholders to bring them up to speed on data related regulatory expectation, data controls implementation progress, and how global capabilities can be adopted to reduce data risk for Asia International Markets, working in collaboration with AME CDAO data management teams.

• Develop a stakeholder map to understand and identify consistent or conflicting expectations and develop management options for executives to make informed and collective decisions with trade-offs in mind.

• Develop necessary materials and advocate for Data Management function, and address key stakeholder expectations including delivery roadmap, metrics, cost (investment and recharges) and benefits.

Delivery and Execution of Data Risk Reduction

• Drive delivery and execution of data risk reduction across Asia International Markets, leveraging on the AME Data Risk Reduction Book of Work and other such investments across Asia International Markets.

• Alignment of relevant OKRs and metrics from HSBC Data Strategy, prioritization of funding, and progress reporting, addressing data related regulatory expectation, and contribute to the reduction of data risk rating for Asia International Markets.

• Establish an effective mechanism to triage new data risk demand to respective delivery pods for prioritization and execution, with DAO and AME CDAO portfolio and project management team.

Delivery Governance, Control, and Reporting

• Establish an effective governance approach to oversee and report data risk for Asia International Markets (e.g. Asia International Markets RCMM by AME CCO, AME Tech, and AME CDAO Risk and Control Forum) in a simplified and effective way.

• Manage the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for data risk reduction book of work and contribute to required reporting artifacts to meet Data Enabler Value Stream expectation.

• Work with the team of Data Risk and Control leads (SMEs) in AME to provide direction and steer to Asia International Market data leads and engaging with key stakeholders across 1st and 2nd line of defense in the rollout of the data management initiatives for both RTB and CTB books.

• Ensure effective data risk management through managing the delivery of data controls (DUSE, DMOV, DSTO and DPRIV) across Asia International Markets.

• Be the subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior management and Asia international markets on data risk and controls.

• Responsible to drive the rollout and adoption of the DUSE, DMOV, DPRIV and DSTO

policy and procedures across Asia International Markets.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

Essential Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, Data Science,

or a related field.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in data management and data controls, with at least 3 years in leadership role overseeing large-scale data and analytics deliveries.

• Solid knowledge of data management practices, with active industry knowledge across key data domains such as data risk, data commercialization, data platforms, and data management trends.

• Track record of the ability to deliver data management and control domains e.g. including data retention risk, data privacy risk, and data security risk.

• Strong understanding on HSBC’s Value Stream construct and its evolving changes, with relevant expertise to manage investment discussions, delivery roadmap and metrics.

• Strong understanding in HSBC’s organizational and awareness on recent changes across the enterprise, with solid experience to navigate complexities across global, regional, and market expectations.

• Strong literacy and understanding on the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy and its Execution Roadmap, across key technology components (Reference Data, Data Fabric, Control Automation), and business outcomes (e.g. Non-Resident Chinese growth for Hong Kong business).
