We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities

  • Participate in HASE IT Infrastructure DevOps Team: Collaborate with the Infrastructure DevOps team to provide support and advice on OS, middleware, database and cloud technologies across multiple projects and functional areas.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Manage database security, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and structures.
  • Support requests from internal teams, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and maintenance tasks.
  • Document database processes, configurations, and best practices.
  • Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered.
  • Stay up to date and maintain expertise in current tools, technologies, and areas such as cybersecurity, as well as regulations related to data privacy, consent, and data residency.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or a related field.
  • DBA certification from Oracle, Microsoft, or other recognized vendors.
  • Expertise in database technologies such as Oracle, MS-SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, MongoDB or others.
  • Strong knowledge of database design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with database security, backup strategies, and disaster recovery.
  • Should be well versed with ITIL concepts and more specific understanding of Service operations activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Proficiency in English; written and spoken.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate effectively.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Experience in PostgreSQL and its variants, i.e. AWS Aurora, PolarDB and etc.
  • Experience with technologies beyond databases, such as middleware or cloud platforms.
  • Cantonese language skills: speaking ability is highly preferred.
  • Team leadership experience.
