We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Business Analyst.

Principal responsibilities

 

  • Lead requirement scoping, business analysis, and functional design for transforming legacy core banking and customer data systems into modernized target platforms.s
  • Analyze online transactions, screen workflows, and batch processes to define common user journeys, functional specifications, and detailed user stories with technical acceptance criteria.
  • Act as the primary bridge between Business Operations, Product Owners, and IT delivery teams (API, backend, and testing) to ensure solutions align with operational needs and technical feasibility.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery across the project lifecycle, including requirement sign-off, screen-to-screen mapping, show-and-tell demos, UAT planning, live proofing (PVT), and rollout support.
  • Embed operational risk controls, data governance policies, and regulatory audit standards (e.g. dual control, segregation of duties, access management, and statutory record retention) into system requirements.
  • Manage backlog prioritization, resolve screen and system dependencies, and escalate delivery risks and blockers to project leadership and governance committees.
  • Support legacy system decommissioning by analyzing legacy data structures, screen dependencies, and operational workarounds to ensure seamless migration to target platforms.
  • Provide post-implementation support, incident analysis, and continuous process enhancements during BAU transition.

 

Requirements

Functional knowledge

  • Strong domain knowledge of Hong Kong banking operations, customer data (CUS), and core banking systems across retail and wholesale business lines (WPB and CMB/WSB).
  • In-depth understanding of banking products and servicing processes, including deposits, account maintenance, transactions, payments, and digital banking channels (BIB/PIB).
  • Practical understanding of KYC, customer onboarding, and account lifecycle servicing operations.
  • Solid grasp of banking risk governance, operational risk controls (including Maker-Checker / dual authorization, tiered approvals), and internal/external audit remediation (MSII closure).
  • Working knowledge of banking regulatory standards, data privacy, audit logging, and statutory data retention requirements (e.g. 7-year online record maintenance).

Technical skills

  • Proven track record of working in Agile, Scrum, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments, driving sprint planning and regular release cycles.
  • Practical experience in legacy system migration, including screen-to-screen mapping, legacy demise, batch-to-online transition, and system interface analysis.
  • Understanding of modern enterprise application architecture, including Microservices, Process APIs (PAPI), frontend/UI frameworks, and backend data integration.
  • Proficiency in project and requirement management tools, particularly Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong technical problem-solving capabilities to define system pre-check validation rules, automated checks, and error-handling workflows to mitigate manual operational risk.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD delivery pipelines, deployment verification, and defect triage management.

Communication and soft skills

  • Proven stakeholder management capability, with the ability to build trust and align priorities across Business Operations, IT engineering, Architecture, and Risk Stewards.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to balance operational demands against technical constraints under tight regulatory and delivery milestones.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating cross-functional workshops, show-and-tell demonstrations, and requirement walk-throughs for working-level and senior management audiences.
  • High adaptability and resilience in managing multiple priorities within complex, matrixed regional and global team structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an advantage.

Others

  • University degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of business analysis or project delivery experience within banking IT, with proven involvement in core banking platforms, customer systems, or large-scale migration programmes.
  • Professional certifications in Agile or Project Management (such as SAFe PO/PM, SAFe Scrum Master, PMI-ACP, or PMP) are highly preferred.
  • Prior experience collaborating with global shared services (GSC) and offshore delivery centres across different geographic locations.
