We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Product Owner.

 

Principal responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g. for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining data driven solutions to assist IWPB businesses in achieving profit and growth targets.
  • Effectively project managing teams and stakeholders.
  • Exceeding stakeholders’ and customers’ expectations by delivering innovative and accurate results.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders across all levels.
  • Deliver the FCS Decision Optimization program objectives related to development and implementation of Machine learning models, access to new external data and improvement of fraud decisioning through processing, Turnaround time etc.
  • Managing an array of projects, working with a team of Analysts for the project delivery.
  • Work scope will be around Fraud portfolio Management across various markets.
  • Primary work delivery will be focussed around solutions for implementing fraud Management tools & strategies. However, there will be opportunities to gain exposure into other areas of fraud management & systems as well.

 

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • 14+ years’ relevant experience; Bachelor’s/Master’s degree from a reputed university (STEM preferred).
  • Strong Product Owner capability: own vision and roadmap, proactively identify opportunities, bring together resources, manage/prioritise backlog, write clear user stories, and partner with engineering teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of Cards Disputes & Chargebacks and supporting system capabilities: scheme rules, dispute/chargeback lifecycles, evidence standards, operational controls, and SLA/compliance obligations.
  • Strong understanding of fraud vectors/mechanisms (e.g., card/payment fraud, ACTO, ID theft) and detection techniques (analytical & operational), including regulatory implications.
  • Ability to translate fraud risk needs into product strategy while aligning with compliance, risk, engineering, and business requirements.
  • Data-driven mindset: develop/maintain data-driven solutions; use KPIs (fraud rates, false positives) for prioritisation and post-deployment impact assessment.
  • Strong project/stakeholder leadership: manage teams and stakeholders; build strong relationships across levels; strong communication/presentation/interpersonal skills; proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Strong people leadership: proven people and team management experience; ability to drive results and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Integrity and adherence to HSBC policy on conduct, compliance and resilience risk.
  • Experience working in a matrix, multi-national operating structure; represent the function in relevant governance/committees (e.g., SWG).

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Fraud product/tool knowledge (desirable, not mandatory): Feedzai, Experian, RSA, SASEFM, SASID, BioCatch, TMX.
  • Experience across multiple geographical regions.
  • Exposure to Banking Analytics (or equivalent experience in Business/Finance/related fields).
  • Agile delivery tooling exposure: JIRA/Confluence; relevant certifications (desirable): Agile PMPO / CBAP / CISO / SAFe Agilist.
  • Exposure to Cloud, Digital Technology, and Cognitive/AI platforms.
  • Investigative/consultative mindset with enthusiasm for exploring new data/tools and wider industry trends.
