Guangzhou, GD, CN, 510620
Job description
Some careers have more impact than others.
If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager - DAAI.
Principal responsibilities
- Deliver Wealth MI and insights by developing and maintaining dashboards, performance packs and self-serve reporting that track key commercial and client outcomes (e.g., acquisition, deepening, leads effectiveness, RM productivity).
- Translate business problems into analytical solutions by defining problem statements, success metrics and hypotheses, then applying appropriate statistical/ML techniques (propensity, segmentation, forecasting, optimisation, scenario simulation).
- Partner with data and engineering teams to shape data requirements, improve data quality, and build reusable analytical datasets/pipelines that support scalable Wealth analytics across markets.
- Support end-to-end model lifecycle including feature design, validation, documentation, governance reviews, deployment handover, and ongoing monitoring to ensure models remain robust and fit for purpose.
- Contribute to large-scale Wealth platforms and programmes by defining analytics and measurement frameworks, supporting vendor/partner delivery where relevant, and ensuring solutions are scalable, consistent and reusable across markets.
- Learn and apply modern AI practices such as experimentation basics, model monitoring concepts, and responsible AI fundamentals, helping the team move from prototypes to scalable solutions.
Requirements
- Strong technical foundations in SQL and Python for data wrangling, analysis and automation (e.g., pandas/numpy; writing clear, efficient queries).
- Core analytics and ML knowledge including statistics basics, supervised/unsupervised learning concepts, feature engineering, and model evaluation (e.g., AUC, precision/recall), with an interest in applying these to Wealth use cases.
- Familiarity with GenAI concepts and delivery—understanding of LLM capabilities/limitations, prompt engineering basics, and common patterns such as RAG, summarisation, classification, and agent-style workflows; able to prototype GenAI use cases and evaluate output quality.
- Full‑stack delivery mindset—comfortable working across the stack from data extraction/transformation through to basic API integration and front-end visualisation (e.g., building simple Python services, integrating model/GenAI outputs into dashboards or lightweight UIs).
- Good engineering hygiene such as version control (Git), structured coding practices, and a willingness to learn deployment/monitoring concepts.
- Clear communication skills in both English and Chinese - able to explain findings simply, ask the right questions, and work effectively with stakeholders across business, data engineering and technology teams, while following responsible AI and data governance expectations.
Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
