We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Compliance Advisory and Stewardship Centre of Excellence.
Principal responsibilities
Key activities and decision-making areas
This role supports the Asia Pacific region and Hong Kong Business line in actively managing financial crime risk in the following areas:
Market Oversight
- Prepare the Financial Crime Risk Maps and RAS statements using MI data from source systems and inputs from SMEs.
- Draft and compile submissions for governance forums, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
- Leverage Financial Crime MI data to provide insights on Key risk Indicators, emerging risks and control effectiveness, as well as MI for risk steward performance, analysis and oversight.
- Ensure consistency and alignment of reporting across different Governance forums.
Governance and reporting
- Asia and Hong Kong Financial Crime committees are delivered, packs are coordinated and distributed actions tracked and minutes drafted where needed.
- Inputs into Asia and Hong Kong governance reporting are coordinated and managed; and other areas of Executive Reporting are supported. As required coordinate inputs into special papers, regulatory consultations or thematic reviews.
- Focus on continuous improvement and simplification around governance and reporting, working closely with other Framework, Reporting and Insight teams in across FC.
Risks, Controls, Issues and Actions Reporting
- Financial crime risks and controls are appropriately recorded and managed in coordination with R&C Controls Office, including commentaries from owners and stakeholders where needed.
- Prepare and deliver monthly reporting on Risk, Controls, Issues and actions as needed for Asia and Hong Kong governance.
- Track progress and status of remediation of actions.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Maintain effective relationship with Asia Financial Crime and Hong Kong Financial Crime stakeholders.
- Clear and supportive communication and collaboration across stakeholders both within the COE FC Reporting and Governance team, and within the Asia FC Framework and Capability team.
- Escalate key stakeholder issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution.
Teamwork
- Effective collaboration across the HSBC Group including the FC senior leadership team.
- Constructive feedback of team members while collaborating with them in process of achieving objectives.
- Assist in creating & maintaining an environment within the team which fosters free sharing of knowledge & ideas.
- Developing soft skills and technical competency for self.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Identification and management of FC risks (internal and external), the gathering and analysis of FC risk data from across the Three Lines of Defence (3LoD) to provide recommendations for active risk management.
- Deliver products that support the risk stewardship model and promote an active risk management culture.
- Implementation of tracking and oversight protocols to ensure stewardship recommendations are being shared on time, actioned where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, including for the use of technology, common approaches and deduplication of activities.

Requirements
Skills and abilities:
- Communication skills – ability to produce key messages using clear written language, including awareness of tone and the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and delivery channels.
- Insight and analysis skills – demonstrated ability to analyse information and proactively produce insight to support leadership decisions.
- A drive towards solutions and outcomes – an interest in making the bank operate more efficiently.
- Demonstrable ability for strong and collaborative teamwork.
- Willingness (and ability) to learn as customer expectations, technology and control options are changing rapidly.
Knowledge and experience
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in business, law, economics, accountancy or similar field.
- Familiarity with financial crime risk management and key risk areas and controls relevant to banking services.
- Experience working with a diverse set of global stakeholders, particularly in Hong Kong.
- Experience with governance, insight, analysis and reporting, including systems such as Helios and Qliksense.
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
