We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, BRR.
Principal responsibilities
Key activities and decision making areas
- Provide guidance to first line management regarding non-financail risk framework and facilitate assessment of risks and controls, identification of weaknesses and issues relevant.
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) in the areas of primary responsibilities. This should include due consideration to both internal and external directives from the risk stewards not only from the specified areas but also from Compliance, Operational Risk, Legal, Finance.
- Support all relevant teams of the function or country team during risk steward review or internal audit.
- Ensure CMB remains aligned to any applicable framework or regulatory control environment requirements (i.e. SOX, IFRS, BASEL III).
Customers / Stakeholders
- Supports oversight and effective management through implementation of relevant framework, policies and transformation programmes (if applicable).
- Provide stakeholders with key metrics and data that will give visibility on risks and control environment and allow them to identify emerging and current issues that require management attention.
- Drive remediation of all audit actions, regulatory issues and any other issues whether identified by management, Business Risk activities or Risk Steward reviews.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Ensure high data quality in system of records and timely refresh of information as per the policies/ framework.
- Timely cascade of updates on any relevant changes including regulatory changes to policy or framework or projects impacting the primary responsibilities.
- Monitor for completion of training (online/ classroom) and conduct awareness sessions to enhance understanding of CMB colleagues in proactive management of risk.
- Facilitate development of Key indicators facilitating proactive management of risk.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Encourage and enable constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by collaboration and consistently promote HSBC values, policies for the business and our community.
- Proactive support within the team and to the stakeholders in identification of solution to hurdles and challenges.
Requirements
Qualifications
- A degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Information Securities or related field is preferable.
Knowledge & Experience
- Previous experience in non-financial risk management within a global organization. Experience in supporting any of the following would be an added advantage: Resilience Risk, Cyber Security Risk, Regulatory risk, Operational Risk, Financial Crime Risk.
- Good experience working within Commercial Banking and understanding of Wholesale Banking within HSBC.
- Working as risk advisor, risk stewardship, or CCO type function in banking is preferable.
- Have Understanding of Banking Products.

- Ability to present complex issues confidently and concisely to key stakeholders using simple language and accommodating globally distributed stakeholders.
- Competent decision-maker, making considered and timely decisions, particularly when under high pressure.
- Ability to identify, assess and communicate the need for risk management intervention in complex, fast paced environments.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
