Principal responsibilities
- Responsible for driving an AI-first Wealth development platform team within the domain, accountable for end-to-end delivery of products, services and journeys in IWPB, Private Banking and home markets, including change programmes and production services.
- Build and calibrate goal-based planning and stochastic models, using Monte Carlo engines and robust return/dependency processes to measure adequacy, sustainability, probability-of-success, and stress outcomes.
- Translate model outputs into scalable and actionable portfolio implementation by defining strategic asset allocation, glidepaths, rebalancing and cash-buffer rules, and supporting household-level aggregation, drift monitoring, and tax-aware constraints where applicable.
- Ensure production-grade delivery and governance through rigorous validation (back-testing, sensitivity, parameter stability, benchmarking), clear documentation (assumptions, limitations, calibration, governance artefacts), high-quality data integration with lineage controls, and end-to-end cross-functional delivery from requirements to monitoring.
- Accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining a forward-thinking strategy and Future State Architecture (FSA) for the domain, identifying emerging trends and technologies to remain competitive and innovative and ensuring that Technology Strategy is in alignment with and enables the overall Business Strategy.
- Accountable for the AI and automation agenda for the domain, leveraging AI/automation to deliver measurable improvements in business performance, customer/colleague outcomes, operational efficiency and technical resilience.
- Accountable for maintaining Technology technical and operational standards and methods, ensuring that solutions are built with global reuse and scalability in mind and minimizing technical debt.
- Accountable for production resilience and availability, monitoring and delivery of overall service / application health and effective service management for incidents.
- Accountable for managing suppliers to ensure that service performance targets are met.
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to risk and controls, security and compliance standards, delivering timely remediation where control deficiencies are identified in order to achieve GRAS targets, as well as delivering Technology Risk & Control Book (TRCB) of work.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate technology business continuity plans are developed and maintained in the domain.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Build and sustain an AI-first engineering organisation through effective talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, and capability development across software engineering, data/AI engineering, and platform disciplines.
- Lead a high-performing cross-functional delivery team, provide coaching and mentorship, and encourage professional growth.
- Embed and mature the SRE, DevOps and Lean-Agile ways of working across the domain.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive and collaborative culture that encourages constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Primary relationship with global stakeholders in the domain and in markets, to define a coherent vision and supporting technology roadmap in line with the business strategic priorities, the FSA, and enterprise Technology architecture.
Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications
- Deep domain knowledge in the Private Banking and Wealth context, with extensive experience in a global matrixed organization, a multi-divisional setting being a significant advantage.
- Experienced in mainstream projection modeling used across financial services, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects utilizing both deterministic methods and stochastic techniques, including Monte Carlo simulations.
- Strong software engineering background, with extensive understanding of modern engineering practices, SDLC, tooling, and a proven track record of delivering secure and resilient platforms.
- Experience building and operating high-availability, high-scale, high-performance systems, including production support and operational resilience.
- AI/automation engineering literacy, including identifying and delivering practical AI-enabled use cases, and partnering effectively with data/ML engineering teams to take solutions from concept to production.
- Proven delivery experience with SRE, DevOps and Lean-Agile ways of working (e.g. Jira workflows, Scrum, sprint-based delivery).
- Strong prioritisation and stakeholder management skills, able to balance conflicting and changing demands with a pragmatic, outcomes-led approach.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical topics clearly and logically to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with funds, equity trading end to end trade life cycle supproitng (funds, equities, structured products, bonds) – fill them out.
- Proven experience in Wealth Management financial planning (goal-based planning, retirement modelling, decumulation strategies).
- Strong hands-on experience building stochastic models / Monte Carlo simulation for multi-asset portfolios.
- Demonstrable experience with risk profiling and mapping profiles to portfolio risk/asset allocation.
- Practical understanding of end-to-end trade order management for funds and equities (order lifecycle, controls, operational realities).
