We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Global Head of SSv Product Solutions Technology

Business: SecSvcs & Digital Assets Tech

Job ID:55992

Securities Services (SSv) is a profitable, scalable, capital-light business at the heart of the Group’s transaction banking, institutional client and wealth ambitions. SSv Technology is a 1,000+ strong global engineering organisation partnering with SSv and colleagues across HSBC to deliver resilient, secure, and industry-leading technology services.

We’re seeking an accomplished technology executive to join as Global Head of SSv Product Solutions Technology, accountable for setting strategy, leading global delivery, and driving measurable outcomes across our product solutions portfolio.

This role is suited to a hands-on, engineering focused technologist with a strong product mindset and a passion for building high-quality products and services for clients, customers and colleagues. You will bring a pragmatic, outcomes-led approach to engineering, architecture and design, and will be comfortable solving complex challenges at scale within a large, global organisation. You will also champion open, collaborative engineering practices.

Reporting to the Global Securities Services Technology CIO, you’ll set direction and lead global delivery for Product Solutions Technology. You’ll build and inspire a high-performing, multi-disciplinary organisation of delivery managers, solution architects, data analysts and full-stack engineers across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Bangalore, Pune and London. Working closely with business, operations, cyber security, risk and architecture partners, you’ll drive measurable outcomes—modernising platforms, improving reliability and controls, and accelerating time-to-market—while developing talent and strengthening our engineering culture.

  • Define a target-state architecture that incorporates existing and future technologies to balance pace and disruption, aligned to HSBC architectural principles.
  • Lead the design, delivery and implementation of technology change impacting platforms—from bug-fix through to major enhancements and re-engineering.
  • Establish a strong client and stakeholder feedback loop, ensuring deliverables are accepted and lessons learned are captured through formal retrospectives.

Scale AI, automation and modern engineering practices

  • Innovate using emerging technologies including AI/ML, cloud, big data, APIs and DLT, translating opportunities into tangible business value.
  • Scale an AI and automation approach that improves client experience, operational efficiency and developer productivity, with appropriate governance and controls.
  • Champion engineering excellence and continuous improvement, uplifting capability across the organisation through modern practices (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps) and a strong learning culture.
  • Promote high-cadence delivery into production and remove barriers when throughput slows—working with team leads, IT leadership and business partners to improve flow.

Strengthen resilience, risk management and service quality

  • Put stability at the heart of delivery: ensure services are designed to operate, observable, supportable and resilient.
  • Drive consistent uplift in monitoring, alerting and operational automation to reduce avoidable incidents and improve recovery.
