We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.
In this role, you will:
Drive innovation and change to support safe customer growth in Hong Kong Business Banking
• Partner with CMB COO BFCR, Middle Office management, FCTM and 2nd LoD risk stewards (compliance, FCC etc) when required to develop identification methodologies and industrialize analysis based on financial crime typology indicators which is tailored and risk focused to BB portfolio and ensure the effective engagement with BB frontline staff as part of supporting the transition to the new model
• Represent Business for discussions with various internal / external stakeholders in NFR matters, including thematic discussions and analysis on any evolving NFR typologies.
• Work closely with Country and HK BFCR to help the business better manage its financial crime and fraud risks, including identification of trends impacting the business, key emerging risks and regulatory initiatives.
• Analysis and make reference to the applicable best practice in AMH, in particular those existing risk controls for BB (both BBRM and BBPM) model on customer selection risk appetite, onboarding, de-risking, Transaction Monitoring/Trigger Event and 3rd party management risk.
• Ongoing oversight and review on NFR related strategies, controls and processes to ensure effectiveness and resources are optimized.
• Implementation of NFR and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) controls, policies and procedures to protect the Business from risks while also ensure we do not compromise customer experience.
• Oversight of CDD activities, including CDD book of work management, quality and service level management, operational governance and representation in joint Steerco.
• Lead the design, implementation and development of robust fraud detection rules and the target operating model.
• Drive the ongoing execution of AML and Sanctions Compliance Plans; developing and implementing Business Procedures based on Global AML and Sanctions Policy/ Standards
• Diagnose policy and procedure deficiency and drive ongoing improvement and streamlining of existing controls for optimal impact to business, operation and customers
• Subject matter expertise in NFR related control governance, including but not limited to Management Self-Identified Issues, Financial Crime Assurance reviews and Audit.
• Closely review and monitor key performance metrics to ensure risks remain within appetite, escalating appropriately where early warning signs of potential challenges become apparent
• Support the sustainable embedment of FCR culture and awareness and promote strong FCR compliance culture throughout China Business Banking encouraging integrity in managing FCR.
• Maintain reporting metrics that enable the HBCN CMB COO & Head of BB to assess the effectiveness of controls, and to initiate remediation or improvement actions where required
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years minimum experience in Banking, Financial Institutions or similar areas
- Knowledge of HSBC CMB, in particular on the financial crime risk management related topics is a must
- Experience in advising and/or educating others on complex business and/or risk management activities, including having experience in areas related to active financial crime risk identification and/or mitigation.
- Self-starter, able to work independently but with a good sense of where escalation is required
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Organized and logical thinker, with good understanding of the importance of well-defined processes and governance
- Strong interpersonal skills and an eagerness to develop strong partnership
- Strong written and verbal communication (English and Mandarin essential)
