We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities:
1)Modern engineering & platform transformation
• Continuously improve stability, scalability, and operability (SRE-style focus).
• Align the application with CCR FSA standards and engineering guardrails.
• Adopt and embed advanced engineering practices across the pod (quality, automation, secure-by-design).
2) Full delivery lifecycle ownership
• Implement solutions end-to-end: impact assessment, performance tuning, testing, deployment.
• Move fluidly between development, testing, and production support based on demand.
• Reduce operational pain (TOIL reduction) via automation and better diagnostics.
3) DevSecOps and controls
• Improve OKRs such as release cadence, incident reduction, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with IT risk and controls (including secure configuration, auditability, change discipline).
4) Engineering leadership & collaboration
• Lead/guide developers where needed; drive consistent standards across the team.
• Operate effectively in a global, distributed environment with strong spoken English.
• Performance tuning basics (indexes, query plans, connection pooling, latency analysis)
5)Ways of working
• Strong problem-solving under pressure, good documentation habits, and delivery against multiple deadlines
• Ability to lead developers and land “meaningful changes” that improve business outcomes sustainably
Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications:
Java (Spring / Spring Boot / Spring Cloud)
RESTful API design and implementation
Linux/UNIX + shell scripting for diagnostics/automation
Container & CI/CD ecosystem
• Docker + Kubernetes
• Jenkins, GitHub, Ansible and CI/CD patterns (build, test, deploy, rollback)
Observability / reliability tooling
• Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo
• Practical ability to define SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, alerts, tracing strategies, and to use these in incident resolution
Data
• Oracle (or equivalent enterprise RDBMS) and PostgreSQL
• Performance tuning basics (indexes, query plans, connection pooling, latency analysis)
Ways of working
• Strong problem-solving under pressure, good documentation habits, and delivery against multiple deadlines
• Ability to lead developers and land “meaningful changes” that improve business outcomes sustainably
What additional skills will be good to have?
• HSBC ITSO experience (controls, governance, risk awareness in delivery)
• Investment banking / CCR domain familiarity
• Architecture experience (especially microservices, gRPC, cloud-native patterns)
• GCP/AWS experience or certifications
• Python/Jupyter (often useful for analysis, tooling, automation)
• Evidence of engineering community contribution (open source, GitHub, blogs)
