We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist.

Business: Asia & Middle East Technology 

Principal responsibilities

• Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering squad (front-end and server side), providing technical direction, coaching and day-to-day leadership to deliver consistently high-quality outcomes. 
• Own end-to-end delivery from inception to closure, managing scope, schedule, resourcing, dependencies, risks/issues, communications and budget to meet agreed objectives. 
• Partner with product, business, operations, architecture, risk and compliance to align on requirements, non-functional expectations, delivery approach, milestones and change control. 
• Drive end-to-end solution design and implementation for retail banking digital journeys, ensuring scalability, resilience, security and maintainability across UI and API layers. 
• Embed engineering excellence through strong SDLC practices: coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, non-functional testing and clear Definition of Done/acceptance criteria. 
• Maintain delivery plans and transparent reporting on progress, risks and financials, ensuring alignment with HSBC ways of working and governance expectations. 
• Coordinate system integration and cross-team delivery with upstream/downstream systems, ensuring compliance with group architecture standards and platform guardrails. 
• Lead production readiness and support, including release discipline, operational controls/documentation, incident triage, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement to enhance stability and customer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong hands-on software development experience.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality, complex system solutions end-to-end.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge and practical experience with distributed systems, microservice architecture and API-based integration.
• Comfortable working in an Agile delivery model (e.g., Scrum), with an iterative, collaborative mindset.
• Strong passion for technology and engineering, with curiosity to learn and apply new skills, and strong leadership.

Technical skill

• AEM / Front-end: AEM front-end development; HTL/Sightly; CRXDE/JCR; AEM component architecture; clientlibs; dispatcher concepts; accessibility and SEO.
• Backend / API: Java; Spring Boot; REST APIs and microservices; Spring MVC/Data/Security; JPA/Hibernate; SQL/RDBMS; Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Engineering practices: Git; Maven/Gradle; automated testing; Agile/Scrum; code review; CI/CD-aligned delivery.
