Principal responsibilities

• Lead a team of mobile engineers, providing both technical direction and hands-on support.
• Establish and maintain the community of Android/iOS engineers within the team and across the Mobile Foundation.
• Champion the ‘HSBC way’ of engineering, ensuring best practices and code standards are adopted.
• Collaborate with technical leaders and product owners to shape product strategy, roadmap, and requirements.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their technical growth and engagement.
• Advocate for modern software development practices and participate in technical Show & Tells.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, robust solutions and act as a gatekeeper for the definition of done.
• Document solutions and contribute to the engineering community’s knowledge base.

Requirements

• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Lead or Senior Engineer in large-scale mobile engineering environments.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring and team development.
• Hands-on expertise in native iOS and/or Android development.
• Experience in agile and DevOps environments, with a passion for open-source collaboration.
• Ability to identify and implement productivity and quality improvements.
